How do you imagine the cities of the future?💡 Cities of the future will be socially connected hubs, supporting classy and timeless architecture and sustainability. Passive systems such as Lumon's balcony glazing enhance self-sufficiency of buildings and cityscapes. The awarded Ørsted Gardens is a perfect example of this. Once called the ugliest building in Denmark, the building now boasts modern design and functionality. "No one has come up with such a completely correct proposal for a renovation that manages both the climatic, acoustic and thermal aspects, but at the same time also wraps it in a form that supports the social cohesion of the building," notes Christopher Carlsen, Architect at Tegnestuen LOKAL about the project. Discover the future of architecture in our free course “2030”: https://lnkd.in/dUzzCHez Is Bosco Verticale truly sustainable? Bosco Verticale, famous for its green architecture, integrates thousands of plants into its facades, promoting a new paradigm in urban construction. This pioneering project in Milan stands out not only for its beauty but also for its promise of sustainable construction. However, while it absorbs about 18 tons of CO2 annually, the building’s construction emitted approximately 990 tons just from the balconies. Does the initial environmental impact offset over time? Moreover, constant maintenance raises questions about the long-term effectiveness of these green facades. As the concept of green buildings gains popularity, Bosco Verticale offers us a critical perspective: a greener urban future is possible, but execution requires innovations that significantly reduce the carbon footprint from construction through maintenance. ♻️🏙️ "For all our developments, we are always looking for the most sustainable materials that have a positive impact on the world; After all, we create new living environments where people want to be." - Henk van Waning, Project Developer, Vorm In line with the City of Amsterdam’s mission to become the first 100% circular city in the world by 2050, the architects of this project wanted to add sustainable value to the neighbourhood. The reuse of materials is an important condition of this mission, so StoneCycling’s Nougat WasteBasedBricks® have been used for the facade of the building.
