I have just come off a Teams call with 35 people. The topic being presented and discussed was FINANCIAL EDUCATION. It was lovely to have been asked by Georgina Castles from the Responsible Business team to discuss how I am involved in Financial Education. Tom Forster asked some really key questions surrounding my experiences and tips for others that may be inspired to deliver these sessions. Financial Education is such an important topic and has such an impact in our communities, so why not start the process at an early age? I’ll always be banging the financial education drum 🥁a key thread that runs through me. I love a question and will always be happy to answer if anyone wants to get involved in Financial Education. #financialeducation #inspiringthenextgeneration #onceateacheralwaysateacher #communityiskey #deliverwhatyouvalue

As we navigate a rapidly evolving economic landscape, the imperative for fostering financial capability from a young age has never been more important. Here at the SIFMA Foundation, we are deeply committed to this mission during #FinancialLiteracyMonth and every month, and there are several key steps that leaders in the financial industry can take to make a substantial impact: ✅ Adopt a Stance of Financial Capability for All: Encouraging and creating pathways for your employees, their families, and your communities to access free and user-friendly financial education programs can be a game-change. Better financial health translates to better mental and physical health and increases productivity by reducing stress. Offer your stakeholders the essential tools to self-educate, advocate, spread the wealth! ✅Bring Financial Education into Local Schools: By collaborating with educational institutions, the private sector can ensure that financial education begins early, setting a foundation for informed financial decisions in the future. The SIFMA Foundation partners with ERGs, CSR teams, and corporate giving programs to support 4th through 12th grade teachers across the country with best-in-class educational programs that make student learning real-world and fun. ✅ Leverage Technology for Interactive Engagement: Utilizing digital platforms and online simulations can make learning about finance exciting and accessible, especially to young people, when meeting them on the platforms they frequent. Our acclaimed program, The Stock Market Game™, engages young people in the world of economics, investing and personal finance, and prepares them for financially independent futures through a simulation of the global capital markets. ✅ Encourage Mentorship Programs: Pairing young individuals with finance professionals can provide them with valuable insights, guidance, and real-world knowledge about the world of work, their future professional options, the role of the financial industry and managing finances. ✅ Support Non-Profit Organizations: Invest in and partner with organizations focused on financial education to expand resources and reach a wider audience. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel given all the great work out there. By supporting financial education nonprofit organizations, you help others while also helping your company.
