🏗️ Australian Panels to Boost Particleboard Capacity by 650,000m³ 🚧Australia’s largest particleboard manufacturer, Borg Manufacturing’s subsidiary Australian Panels, is set to expand its production capacity. With conditional approval, the new line will produce 650,000 cubic metres annually starting in 2025, establishing Australia's largest particleboard manufacturing hub. 🔍 Key Insights: 1️⃣ Strategic Expansion: The City of Mount Gambier has approved multi-million-dollar alterations and additions to Australian Panels’ existing facility. The project includes a warehouse expansion, automated panel picking and packing, MDF moulding processing, painting equipment, additional laminating, cut-to-size, paper treatment equipment, and an automated strapping and particleboard flooring processing line. 2️⃣ Advanced Technology: The new facility will feature a Siempelkamp continuous line, supporting previous investments like the largest continuous particleboard plant in Oberon, NSW. This will be the fifth plant utilising Siempelkamp’s technology, completing “the Big Five” of its plant portfolio. 3️⃣ Local Supply Chain: Unlike other engineered wood products, over 90% of particleboard is grown, manufactured, and sold within Australian supply chains. Australian Panels is working with Borg Manufacturing’s subsidiary, Pine Plantation Products, to boost reforestation on private land, addressing the shrinking forest plantation estate in Australia. 🏠 Housing Supply Impact: Increasing particleboard capacity is crucial for addressing Australia’s housing shortages. The new plant will produce raw and decorative products, including shelving, components, doors, flooring, and pre-finished panels, supporting the demand for construction materials. 🔗 Learn more about Australian Panels’ capacity boost and its impact on the industry: https://lnkd.in/gQsvpG89 🗣️ #questionforgroup: How can the construction industry benefit from increased local particleboard production?
