Today, as we pause to honor the brave men and women who have served in our military, we remember their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to our country. They deserve our most profound respect and gratitude. Thank you to all the veterans. A special shout-out to our firefighter veterans who gave so much for our freedom and continue to do so for our safety. Your service will never be forgotten. A growing number of firefighters are taking their own lives as a result of mental health issues, including PTSD. There are insufficient local employee assistance programs and a lack of mental health practitioners attentive to cultural differences. According to a 2016 study, the rate of PTSD among firefighters and rescue workers is comparable to that of military personnel who have just returned from combat. Compared to the general population, which has a suicide rate of 13 per 100,000, firefighters have a suicide rate of 18 per 100,000. Let’s continue to address this issue and restore hope to those who have or may be losing it. You are appreciated. 🙏🏽 (https://lnkd.in/gD73DD2E). #Suicide #FirefighterMentalHealth #VeteransDay #ThankYouVeterans #Gratitude #HonoringOurHeroes

Honoring Our Veterans by Protecting Their Mental Health! 🇺🇸❤️ We honor and remember the selfless service of those who have served in our armed forces. While we celebrate their bravery, we must also shine a light on an often-overlooked battle: mental health. Did you know that, sadly, an estimated 6,000 veterans die by suicide each year? For many veterans, the transition to civilian life is marked by invisible wounds like #PTSD, #anxiety, and #depression. These challenges can feel overwhelming without the right support network and resources. Let's raise awareness about the importance of mental health support in the military and ensure that veterans have access to the care they deserve. If you or a veteran you know is struggling, please know that help is available. Grief experienced by Veterans can arise from death, injury, witnessing trauma, home transitions, changes in military rank, or struggles with addiction and mental health. Understanding its impact on veterans helps families support their journey to thriving. We are honored to collaborate with Mitchell Productions Consulting, Lynn Lewis, and Bee Akire on this special assignment serving those in the military and their family members. #veterans #veteransupport #healing #griefsupport #griefeducation

660,000 Approximately 7% of Veterans and up to 23% of post-9/11 service members are estimated to have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Specifically, 11 to 20 out of every 100 veterans who served in operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom have PTSD in a given year. Overall, about 660,000 American military personnel have developed PTSD. Remember, you are not alone. It can help to find a community that stands with you, encouraging everyone to seek the help they need. No one should be afraid to seek help. #PTSDAwarenessDay #CommunitySupport #PTSD

Veterans are the heart of everything we do. We know that asking for help can be difficult for former serving personnel so our staff receive training to understand military life and the mental health difficulties veterans may face after leaving the Armed Forces. Many of the veterans we support have experienced multiple traumas, and so it’s important that our staff are able to recognise the impact of traumatic experiences on everyday life and are able to respond in a way that prevents further harm, supports their recovery and improves their life chances. Our trauma-informed training is undertaken by all staff – as every meeting we have with veteran matters, whether this is kitchen staff, administrators, fundraisers, clinicians or directors. We want to prevent retraumatisation by enabling everyone to understand some of the ways trauma might affect the veterans who seek our help. We ensure that every interaction we have with them will help them feel safe and confident in the care we provide. We use this knowledge to inform how our whole organisation works, working to principles that ensure we’re operating in a trauma-informed way. These principles include safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment and cultural consideration. Look out for our next post to find out more about these principles. #trauma #traumainformed #veteransupport #veterancommunity

We know firsthand that the risk of developing PTSD is significantly higher for individuals in the Military, Veteran, and First Responder communities. It's crucial to provide support and understanding to those who are struggling and turn them, once again, into Warriors. Lives can be SAVED! https://lnkd.in/gk69mS3D #PTSD #PTSDawareness

Two things close to my heart: mental health and our veterans. This fight isn't over. Our government moves too slow, but on the ground, real work is being done. Organizations are stepping up where others have stalled—getting resources directly to where they’re needed most. I’ve seen the impact firsthand, from my family's military service to the tragic loss of my father-in-law to suicide. This isn’t just a cause; it’s a calling. Let’s move with purpose. Let’s make an impact. 🇺🇸 Join the Mission: Spartanvalor.org #MentalHealthAwareness #VeteransSupport #InspireAndImpact

🇨🇦 Reflecting on Remembrance Day and Supporting Our Veterans 🇨🇦 I chose not to post last week in respect for Remembrance Day. As a military brat, I wanted to make sure we kept the focus on honoring the sacrifices of our veterans and active service members. With Remembrance Day still fresh in our minds, it's crucial to recognize the unique mental health challenges service members face. Veterans and active military personnel are 1.5 times more likely to attempt or commit suicide compared to non-military individuals. This is why supporting causes like Movember is so essential. Mental health and suicide prevention are core pillars of the Movember Foundation’s mission, and initiatives like these can truly make a difference. While thanking military members is important, actively supporting mental health resources and suicide prevention programs goes a step further in giving back. If you, or someone you know, is in crisis, please reach out: 1-833-456-4566 to connect with a crisis responder. Let’s support our veterans, active military, families, friends, and ourselves by prioritizing mental health year-round. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dDx33AP5 #RemembranceDay #MentalHealth #SuicidePrevention #Movember #SupportOurVeterans
