October is Depression Awareness Month, and I want to share my personal journey with this often misunderstood condition. For years, I battled with feelings of sadness, emptiness, and hopelessness that I couldn't shake. It was a dark and isolating time. I learned that depression isn't just feeling a little down; it's a complex illness that can affect every aspect of your life. I experienced persistent sadness, loss of interest, changes in appetite and sleep, fatigue, and feelings of worthlessness. It was a constant struggle. But I want to emphasize that depression is not a weakness or a choice. It's a medical condition that requires understanding and support. With the right help, I've been able to manage my symptoms and find a healthier way of living. If you're struggling with depression, please know that you're not alone. There are resources available to help you. Remember, it's okay to reach out for support. #DepressionAwarenessMonth #MentalHealthMatters #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealthAwareness #LinkedInForGood

Survived from Depression ♥️ Two years ago, I faced one of the darkest periods of my life: depression. During that time, I couldn't stay in any room comfortably and desperately wanted to move my bed to the living room. The ceiling fan had to be in a specific position, and my pillows and bedsheets had to be on particular sides. I needed my father by my side constantly and didn't let him leave the house for any reason. I isolated myself, avoiding calls and visits from anyone. Certain smells and sounds would trigger intense anger. I experienced terrifying illusions of creepy creatures trying to harm me, and I was only able to sleep for a maximum of 2 hours each day. The mental and physical pain was so overwhelming that I would scream out in agony. These are just a few of the struggles I faced, along with common symptoms of depression such as overwhelming sadness, a loss of interest in activities I once enjoyed, and a sense of hopelessness. Reflecting on these dark memories, I realize how strong I am, thanks to the unwavering support of my parents, sisters, and friends. Their love and care helped me navigate through this challenging journey. If you’re struggling, please know you’re not alone. Reach out for help and lean on those who care about you. There is light on the other side. #MentalHealthAwareness #DepressionSurvivor #YouAreNotAlone #StrengthInSupport

Depression is more than just feeling sad—it's a complex condition that touches every part of a person's life. If you want to better understand and support your loved ones dealing with depression, here are six common thoughts they might have, plus how you can help: 1. "I'm a burden to everyone." 🤕They might feel too heavy to lean on others. Remind them regularly how much they mean to you and how valued they are. 2. "Nothing will ever get better." 🕳️Hopelessness is tough. Highlight small positive changes to show that brighter days can come. 3. "I can't do anything right." 📉Self-doubt is a constant struggle. Celebrate their small victories and acknowledge their efforts to boost their confidence. 4. "People would be better off without me." 🚫This thought can isolate them. Show your love and need for them by spending quality time and expressing their impact on your life. 5. "I have no energy for anything." ⚡Depression zaps energy. Encourage them with small, manageable tasks and offer to help with daily chores. 6. "I can't explain why I feel this way." 🤷♂️Depression can be confusing without a clear cause. Just being there to listen without needing to fix things can be incredibly supportive. Understanding these thoughts can help you offer better empathy and support. Your kindness and patience can make a world of difference 💙 If these thoughts resonate with you or someone you know, remember you're not alone – share this post to remind everyone of that. #WellnessTherapy #MentalHealthMatters #DepressionAwareness

🌟 Embracing Vulnerability: Understanding Why Depression Can Feel Like Home 🌟 Depression is complex, and its impact is different for everyone. One thing I've come to realize in my line of work is that, for some, depression can feel strangely familiar. Why? Imagine a cozy but dark room. It's the room you've known for a while, and despite its gloominess, it feels oddly safe. Depression can be like that room. It becomes a space where, in the midst of chaos, there's a strange comfort in the predictability of the pain. Change can be scary, even if it's positive. Stepping out of that familiar darkness means facing the unknown. And that can be terrifying. It's not that people with depression want to stay in this space, but breaking away requires immense courage and support. Let's remember that empathetic conversations and understanding can be the first steps towards helping someone venture out of their comfort zone. Instead of judgment, offer a listening ear. It might just be the lifeline someone needs to navigate the path towards healing. Breaking free from the clutches of depression is a journey, and every step matters. Together, let's foster a community of compassion and support, where the warmth of understanding can replace the chilly comfort of depression. #MentalHealthMatters #DepressionAwareness #BreakTheStigma #SupportEachOther 🌟💚

Depression does not knock and come in. And when it does, you may feel ambushed, attacked or even sidelined in your own home. Depression does not heed how powerful you are, nor does it care about how talented or creative you are. As #worldmentalhealthday approaches, I want to share from my own struggles with depression: 1. It took me a long time to decipher that the fatigue, the rage and the lack of interest I experienced in my own creativity was actually depression eating away at me. 2. I kept isolating in various forms to find out what was wrong with me, and in connection to that, the world, never at once thinking cultivating a conscious community could actually help me emerge. 3. Despite being in therapy and creating therapeutic spaces for other people, it was my need to transcend depression that kept me there—I wasn’t able to make the time or space to feel into it and look at its “real” contents. 4. The fear of being small and the striving to keep it under wraps made me more exhausted than I can ever give words to—in hindsight, I would rather be small and let my brave mask slip away. 5. Slowing down and learning to re-parent & nourish yourself may perhaps be the strongest need of the hour if depression has been chipping away at you. As I continue to submerge and re-emerge through the woes & triumphs at work and life, the painful but rewarding change I’ve seen in myself is how I meet this intruder. May you also find a way to disarm depression and have a dialogue (perhaps many) that finally sets you free. #mentalhealthawareness #depression
