Standing out in a crowded market. Most of us have a tendency to think that what we like, what we want, is what our customers like and want. I know. I fall into that trap, too. Of course they agree with everything I believe about how things should work! I'm my own best customer! The sad truth? You are not representative of all of your customers. You might not even be representative of the majority. And if you and your development team are making all of the decisions about how your product is going to evolve without making your customers a central part of those decisions, you might not even have a 50/50 chance of developing your product in a way that not only brings in new customers, but also retains the ones you have. In addition to creating a more attractive product, people are more loyal toward businesses that they feel not only hear them, but act on their feedback. This probably doesn't seem surprising until you realize how few organizations exist that have a functional voice of the customer program, let alone one that organically creates product evangelists. Be that person. Be that organization. https://lnkd.in/gbCtnknz
Well Zendesk you gave me quite the shock this week... I was testing a new feature in Zendesk admin this week and decided to click on that little "send us feedback button" This may be a support elephant in the room type moment, but candidly, I'm not sure why I did because my historical experience has been that it goes into the ether. Despite previous experiences, I thought - what the heck, why not try and shape a piece of this product we could use more efficiently if it was optimized. And I was shocked by the result. I had an email from the Zendesk Product Manager on that area of the product in less than 12 hours with questions about use cases for that particular feature. I just wanted to take the time to say thank you publicly to Zendesk leadership. Support can be a tough job but knowing the leaders of the software you use most often are cultivating a culture of listening in their organization is encouraging. 👏 appreciating you all this week
