A new building era is being launched. In the same week, → the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) has been approved by the European Parliament Plenary. → the Déclaration de Chaillot got signed by 70 countries (of which the US and UAE), agreeing on the key role of the building industry in reducing global world emissions and adapting to a changing climate. What does it mean? The Déclaration de Chaillot is a first. Signing countries agreed → on the role of buildings in climate change. → to establish new construction and energy regulations to achieve a low-carbon built environment. The EPBD sets the pace for Europe’s buildings decarbonisation. → Whole Life Carbon targets will be mandatory from 2027 for an application in 2030. → Whole Life Carbon reporting will be mandatory from 2030. → Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) → complete phase-out of fossil fuel boilers by 2040. Are you ready for these changes? 🏗️ _ ps - Enjoyed this post? I’m Jean-Baptiste, an architect-engineer decarbonising buildings thanks to evidence and science. Follow for more.
