Negotiation The first thought when you say negotiation in Procurement is sitting across the table from a supplier, negotiating a contract worth millions. However, negotiations come in all sizes and scopes, from Terms & Conditions on a purchase order, through renewals and scopes of service, right up to major contracts and agreements. True, there is an element of soft skills involved in how to manage the communications and the people, but the overall negotiation process can be learned and improved through experience. Traditionally, procurement's influence has been primarily measured by cost savings achieved through negotiation. While this remains a critical aspect, procurement's role has expanded to encompass much more. However, the landscape has shifted dramatically in recent years. The golden age of procurement is over. Recession and deflated based markets have now moved to inflated prices and shortages of goods in the world. “The last decade created a focus that was all about moving to the most economical, value for money products and services, which made the life of procurement easy and ever shining. However, the era of this greenfield environment is over as procurement professionals are facing up to different types of challenges and during negotiations old techniques don’t work anymore. To address these evolving needs, Below sessions has been organized to attend free Negotiation Training session on October 30th. This session is designed for both beginners and seasoned professionals, offering valuable insights into the latest negotiation techniques, including supplier management and stakeholder engagement. Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your negotiation skills and stay ahead in the dynamic world of procurement. Tim Jenkins, Sam Achampong FCIPS 🔗 Register Now: https://lnkd.in/deAGenjn

Many believe that Negotiation is the most important quality in procurement professionals, and while it is crucial, it is not the foundation. An agile procurement professional excels in adaptability, responsiveness, and strategic thinking, ensuring the procurement function remains dynamic and aligned with strategic business goals.

1wNegotiations cover many situations. It's important to see them as chances to work together, not just deals. Good communication skills help build trust between everyone involved. To get better at negotiating, try role-playing different scenarios. Also, do your homework on the supplier. Know their needs for better results. Joining professional groups or workshops can help you learn more too.
