From documentary and scripted films to branded and commercial storytelling, real and impactful human stories drive everything we do. Our recent #HumanofHOKA collaboration is no different.
We had the honor of supporting HOKA in their latest #HumansofHOKA film; "Shifting The Post Shift Culture with Chef Philip Speer".
Philip is a chef and restaurant owner whose journey to sobriety has sparked a wellness movement in his hometown of Austin, Texas, and beyond. Philip shares his journey to sobriety, how he built the Comedor Run Club, and his desire to “shift the post shift culture."

Founder & Managing Director of Krataion Consulting, CCXP - Helping organizations navigate through change, in order to grow sustainably embracing joy and freedom
Working at Krataion Consulting with a global brand like Matsuhisa has been such an enriching experience! The whole team shares Chef Nobu’s philosophy to inspire soulfull living while cooking with heart! When we were discussing with Chef Nobu and the team around long term plans and desired changes the response was one that we do not come across often in the business world: “I only focus on the present trying every day to do my best…and the rest will follow”.
We only have the now…dreaming, making plans yes…but where do we live MOST of our lives? Living in the past can be the source of depression while living in the future can be the source of overthinking and analysis-paralysis! The now seems to be the safest space to be…in life…and in business!
Isnt that what soulfull living is about? Doing the best with what we have NOW

A French princess is (falsely) attributed to have said “LET THEM EAT CAKE”, upon being asked to react to the condition of the country’s peasants.
As lean/CI professionals when you throw out tools from your toolbox without properly understanding the problem to your solution, the culture that the team is operating ,the business needs etc. you might be (perceived as) asking them to eat cake when all they need (or can afford now)is bread !!
PS: If you are wondering -“Is he calling workers peasants?”. No I am not, and you are certainly missing the point!!

3 communication strategies for managers I learned from binge-watching The Bear:
Strategy 1: Call them as you see them.
Right away in season one we see Carmy correct the staff when speaking to him: “Say, ‘yes, Chef.’” In turn he calls everyone on the raggedy team at the sandwich shop “Chef”: “It’s a show of respect,” he explains. The effect is instant and unmistakable; Marcus smiles privately and dives into his pastry work. Tina doubles down on the vegetables and positively glows. Takeaway: respect matters. People rise to the level at which you treat them. And even our so-casual-it-hurts-sometimes office culture, formalities can impart dignity.
Tune in for #2 next week.

How do you help existing large organizations to adapt an agile mindset and practices?
We had a lot of fruitful discussions around this when meeting for dinner, with proven and new learnings in our respective roles and projects.
Looking forward to see you on the next learning expedition with one of my customer teams!

It’s always fun to meet former colleagues…
Especially when they share my passion for adaptive organizations, have a lot of experience in corporate context how to inspire people and realize the potential within the restrictions of the bigger frame.
So it was a no-brainer to make room in my calendar to meet Ian Donald and Günther Bock for a dinner.
And as always, the journey was an adventure. This time literally, as we needed to find our way in pouring rain through muddy roads to a sport park restaurant with delicious Italian food.
Looking at the picture, I wonder if all the grey hair is „only“ from time or maybe also braving the corporate world with our passion.
I had the pleasure of hosting an ACF webinar: The Chef's Balancing Act, discussing the challenges we face today and how best to create balance in your career and personal life. Please check out the video:

Storytelling and food are weaved together in the magic tapestry of what I like to call narrative of hospitality. Today Amy from our team briefed international guests coming to KL for the leadership retreat. We spent a considerable amount of time on a particular aspect of information (or rather invitation) FOOD and what our guest can expect to eat when they come to Malaysia. The mention of food has generated loads of ideas and energy from otherwise very shy audience, with other local people contributing ideas.
This made me think how both food and stories bring people together, and one is better when the other is present.
I think each time we eat together at least three narratives are present:
There are culinary narratives: these connect food and beverages with stories about their origins and cultural significance.
The ambience narrative: this refers to the physical space that if infused with a sense of welcome and wonder can facilitates curiosity and openness of sharing stories as well as dishes. Both an immersive experiences in a way, one touching the heart the other the stomach (In ancient Greek language both heart and stomach are considered one)
Personal narratives: these are the stories we offer to each other, more willingly and less formally over a meal, because the food brings us together, it reminds us we are human.
And: Where food is shared, the joy is doubled and the sorrow is halved.
I am excited to see how both our hearts and stomach will be fed when we come together in Aug.
