I saw this story the other day. It was about a woman named Sona from Pipra, Jharkhand. Sona's home wasn't just a house. It was a kitchen for the whole community. A place where women came together. They cooked. They shared their lives. It was more than a meal. It was a family. The Cause? New moms can eat healthy foods. This simple act got me thinking. About Poshan Maah. We celebrate it every September. It's a month where we talk about nutrition. We empower communities. Some things about Poshan Maah might surprise you. Every September ⤷ It happens every September. We focus on nutrition. Started by PM ⤷ PM Modi started it in 2018 with POSHAN Abhiyaan. Focus on Everyone ⤷ It targets children, pregnant women, lactating mothers. Community Help ⤷ Local leaders and healthcare workers are the heroes. Big Reach ⤷ In 2022 alone, over 170 million activities were organized! Use of Technology ⤷ There's an app called POSHAN Tracker that keeps track of nutrition interventions. Fight Against Anemia ⤷ It also focuses on anemia in women and children. Teach Kids ⤷ Schools educate children about healthy eating. And the ultimate vision? An India free from malnutrition! Let's learn from Sona and her community kitchen. Let's come together. Support each other. So here's my question to you. How do you contribute to nutrition in your community? Share your thoughts

You don't need fancy gadgets or grand schemes to make a change. All you need is the right intent, love and compassion. In the village of Pipra, Jharkhand, I witnessed this truth firsthand😊 The community kitchen, where new moms could get healthy meals, was too far for many to reach. But Sona Hembrom, a young mom, had a solution – she opened her own home! 👉"I love seeing everyone come together," Sona shared with a twinkle in her eye, "It's like one big family." The kitchen buzzed with activity as women gathered around a makeshift stove, cooking and sharing stories. It was clear that this was more than just a place to eat; it was a sanctuary of support and friendship. This kindness and generosity are all that create a real difference. She reminded me of 2 things: ☑️True hospitality isn't about grand gestures, but about opening our hearts and homes to those in need. ☑️ Even in the simplest of settings, extraordinary things can happen when we come together with love and compassion. P.S. We worked on a communication project for Rise Against Hunger India's community kitchen initiative. As we celebrate Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month) this September, I'll be sharing stories from my interactions with the people there✨ Picture Credits: Tapas Ray #nutrition #change #empowerment

Good thing about Karnataka making wild card entry on reservations is that all non Kanadigas can return to their Bihar, Mizoram, Sholapur whatever. Makemytrip & Aggarwal packers will be biggest beneficiaries of the announcement. Make them sponsor tarring of Bangalore roads so it will be faster to get out. This is the cummulative power of ancestors praying for your return. There is no better logic for this level of illogical 🤷♀️ Some state was bringing illegal immigrants from the neighbouring country because the OG citizens went missing. This is all your fault. Anyway your home Chief Minister loves you more than your host Chief Minister so... Liqueur cha anyone ? Tamil Nadu will be most upset when all its migrants come back home. Can’t make so much Iddli in the morning. Andra is next. Double the usual gut melting chilli is waiting for you. Rajasthan is surprisingly the 3rd biggest shifter to blore. Back to the hot cities everyone. Invest in hydrafans or camels. Meanwhile Bangaloreans who were on dry shampoo and rice powder can start taking a bath everyday again. Stop using Davidoff Cool water and use real Water If 60% bangalore (immigrant population is well over 55%) leaves and 70% companies come to a standstill Karnataka can try living in 1900 and do role-plays of “living like my great grandpa”. We promise to like your insta reels on devolution. But if we decide to fight hard then Companies may make third party contracts and move a lot of employees to that label- outside Karnataka. WFH will kick in. Contract jobs will rise and employee status will dwindle but where the show must go on… it will. We are Indians Land of Jugaad. We will find a way out. A way the CM of Karnataka had not thought of :-) If you insist on seeing the bright side of everything-you can. And if you can’t do that, then find the funny 🤣

I came across a powerful post by Aanya Wig about Pathuri Dehury and the two stark realities of the India we live in. Pathuri, a 70-year-old disabled woman from Odisha’s Keonjhar district, was forced to crawl nearly two kilometres to the panchayat office to collect her old-age pension. The image will make you stop just a moment before you hurriedly scroll through your feed. As a vegan, I come across dozens of videos showing cruelty, torture and killing of animals on a daily basis. Sometimes it is difficult to breathe or sleep after the mindless violence. And yet, the sight of a senior citizen - someone the age of my mother - having to struggle so much for the money she is entitled to, made me stop right there. The pension is to be delivered to her doorstep due to disability, per the state government directive. We do live in two alternate worlds. The Amazon rainforest is burning, there are dozens of ongoing armed conflicts, insurgencies, and wars that continue to cause deaths of innocent people, millions of people go hungry to bed, and most don't even have a bed to sleep on. And while not being able to buy a home or a car (or Coldplay tickets) seems like a disappointment - I can't help thinking about the sheer contrast between our everyday concerns and the profound struggles endured by the rest of the world. To the daily losses of dignity, families, and lives that they go through. It is so important to stay connected with the disparities and harsh realities of lives outside our own so we may gain perspective about what matters more. Sometimes it takes all our lives to see this, sometimes it takes all our lives to change the way we think about this, and sometimes it takes all our lives to be able to actually contribute in reducing someone's suffering. Are you speaking against injustice today, standing up for someone in the office, in your team, on the street, in your family, or in your community? #socialimpact #future #sustainability

I bet every Indian Household knows this taste! ✨I’m talking about the MDH masala (Mahashian Di Hatti Private Limited). ✨You would remember this brand with its catchphrase- "Asli Masale Sach Sach MDH-MDH" ✨Be honest! You just subconsciously had a playback of the song right? ✨The hero is the MDH masala wale uncle- the spice man with a heart of gold, that's pure desi magic right there! From the refugee camp to ruling the spice kingdom, the story of MDH Masala and Dharampal Gulati is pure fire. Starting with just 1,500 rupees (like, seriously?), Dharampal landed in Delhi and grabbed a tiny shop in Karol Bagh. He never gave up, grinding his way to the top one spice at a time. MDH Masala isn't just about yummy spices, though. It is well known for its socialistic approach. 📌 Let me tell you how. 👉Dharampal prioritised the welfare of society over individual gain. From its inception, he ensured that the benefits of his business extended beyond just profit margins. 👉Despite facing personal hardships and setbacks, Dharampal remained committed to uplifting his community. 👉He not only provided employment opportunities but also invested in social infrastructure, establishing hospitals and schools to serve the underprivileged. 👉Even during the whole COVID thing, he donated a ton of PPE kits to healthcare workers. What a legend! 👉By prioritizing the well-being of employees and the community, Dharampal created a brand that resonates with people from all walks of life. 👉With over 65 different spices and, a crazy distribution network with a total revenue of Rs 924 crore. 👉MDH is one of the leaders in its category with over 12% market share. It is so much to achieve just with Rs 1500. So, what's your favorite MDH Masala memory? Follow Sanjay Pekam for such more content!
