When Jackson tried filming in Rio’s favelas, he faced pushback from authorities worried that showing the harsh realities of those areas would tarnish the city’s image. It took intense negotiations—with local leaders, government officials, and residents—to ensure the project’s safety and success. This reminded me of Sacred Games. The story of Mumbai’s underworld isn’t just about crime and survival; it’s about controlling the story. Ganesh Gaitonde didn’t just fight rivals—he fought to shape his own legacy. Similarly, Inspector Sartaj Singh’s investigation isn’t just a quest for justice—it’s a search for truth, buried beneath years of manipulation by criminals and politicians alike. ➤ Both Jackson’s experience and Gaitonde’s world show us this: Power isn’t just about what happens—it’s about who gets to say what it means. In Rio, officials tried to block Jackson’s project because they feared the truth. In Sacred Games, Gaitonde crafts his story to outlive him, while Sartaj wrestles with fragmented facts in a race to uncover what really happened. ➤ And here’s the deeper insight: Whether it’s in business, media, or life, those who frame the narrative often shape reality itself. What you see: Halsey's new music video for "Ego". What you don't see: The trust and collaboration I've built to bring an artist's directorial vision to life. When Columbia Records reached out to me about producing Halsey's "Ego", it wasn't just because of my track record. It was because of how I crushed it on Lil Nas X's "J Christ" video. Here's what made this project special for me: 1. It was Halsey's solo directorial debut. And let me tell you, she blew me away with her vision and execution. 2. Halsey came prepared. She knew exactly what she wanted, what she didn't want, and was open to my creative solutions within budget constraints. 3. Our collaboration was seamless. No ego clashes, just pure artistic focus and mutual respect. I don't just produce videos. I build relationships and trust. It's why Columbia came back to me. It's why artists like Halsey feel comfortable taking creative leaps with me. This project reminded me why I love what I do. It's not about the big names or flashy productions. It's about creating an environment where artists can fully express their vision, and where I can excel in bringing that vision to life. Huge shoutout to Halsey and Columbia Records.
