From January 28th to 30th in Bergisch Gladbach, in collaboration with contour Veranstaltungsservice GmbH, Meyer Sound is offering training sessions on Portable System Deployment and Low Frequency Control. Both sessions will be conducted in German by Michael Pohl from Meyer Sound's European Technical Support team.   The 2-day Portable System Deployment course equips participants with the knowledge needed to deploy mobile live sound systems effectively, covering everything from initial system design to final measurement and verification, with practical demonstrations using Meyer Sound systems and tools.   The 1-day Low Frequency Control course blends theory and hands-on exercises, addressing key considerations for working with Meyer Sound LFC subwoofers.   For more information and registration, visit: https://lnkd.in/gtENjtfW

Now published in OJ-CSYS: "Learning Robust Output Control Barrier Functions From Safe Expert Demonstrations," by Lars Lindemann, Alexander Robey, Lejun Jiang, Satyajeet Das, Stephen Tu and Nikolai Matni. https://lnkd.in/gYYaw_Rc This paper addresses learning safe output feedback control laws from partial observations of expert demonstrations. We assume that a model of the system dynamics and a state estimator are available along with corresponding error bounds, e.g., estimated from data in practice. We first propose robust output control barrier functions (ROCBFs) as a means to guarantee safety, as defined through controlled forward invariance of a safe set. We then formulate an optimization problem to learn ROCBFs from expert demonstrations that exhibit safe system behavior, e.g., data collected from a human operator or an expert controller. When the parametrization of the ROCBF is linear, then we show that, under mild assumptions, the optimization problem is convex. Along with the optimization problem, we provide verifiable conditions in terms of the density of the data, smoothness of the system model and state estimator, and the size of the error bounds that guarantee validity of the obtained ROCBF. #optimization #outputfeedback

Teaching isn't just telling someone about something you know. This approach would often result in them quickly forgetting it, as it's akin to hearing a story once and being unable to recall it later. Teaching in a way that helps students remember, through explanations or demonstrations, will always be more effective. However, the most impactful learning occurs when students are actively involved and if they are given the chance to apply what they are trying to learn. This involvement leads to deeper engagement and understanding which helps them remember what they've learnt. As educators, we must create an environment where students are actively engaged. By doing so, we make learning more enjoyable, meaningful, and lasting, ultimately helping students understand better.
