This is a good/timely read from my colleague Chris Naylor; grab a cuppa & immerse yourself in the art of the possible for #localgov #publicsector. This reflects much of what we do Inner Circle Consulting; place-based, outcome-focused service redesign to deliver better outcomes at less cost.
As Chief Executive of Barking & Dagenham Council, Chris Naylor launched Community Solutions which, in a short space of time, achieved some remarkable results. In his new Demos essay, he explains the radical transformation that took place, and why it worked✍️ https://lnkd.in/erubABGk

Stealth changes on Empty rates rule changes from 01 Apr 2024.... Look out for our forthcoming short video on the little known changes announced by Jeremy Hunt's team on budget day. Our number 1 prediction by our Jan 24 panel event was pretty spot-on. We are already seeing the signs that some agents are burying their heads in the sand and underplaying the net impact on landlords and from this change in England. The net saving is dropping by a quarter which cements the case that ethical empty rates mitigation, by helping the charity sector, is the last best way and carries the favour of political and public sentiment. See our Jan 24 highlights and other videos to get a taster of the "what's changing this month in England's empty rates arena?" Today, the American Association of Municipal Executives reached 300 founding members and is already cruising towards 400. On Monday, we had hit 200 members. Founders are excited and can't wait to get started building this organization. AAME members want to be connected. They want to contribute to something that is greater than themselves. And they recognize that not only are we in a time that requires a new approach, but that AAME is the vehicle in which they can be the change they want to see. The public sector paradigm shift I have been talking about is real. It is here. And more than 300 people are going to "shape the shift." We could get a wave of last minute registrations tomorrow because the FOMO is real, ladies and gentlemen. Are you going to be one of them? Today, you can sign up and become a founder. Tomorrow, you can help us start building. In the future, you will be able to say that you were a part of it. Because rest assured -- the AAME is going to completely re-imagine how a professional organization for city and county managers should educate and advocate on their behalf.
