With the EU passing legislation banning PFAS chemicals, the conversation around sustainability in packaging is more important than ever. Companies are now scrambling to find alternatives, but many of these so-called "solutions" fall short in both performance and long-term safety. Unfortunately, some of these alternatives may still pose environmental risks and could face bans in the future. This shift could compromise performance standards as companies struggle to adapt, and while some may lobby for exceptions, the real solution lies in innovation. That’s where Impermea Materials comes in. Our water-based materials offer a sustainable, high-performing alternative that not only meets current regulations but is also ahead of the curve in ensuring safety and efficacy. It’s a reliable solution proving that sustainability doesn’t mean sacrificing performance. Make sure to follow this chain of posts where I’ll be talking about what makes us so unique and how we achieved this.

Why is the Safe & Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework crucial? Europe annually consumes a staggering 50 million tonnes of fossil-based #plastics, yet only 32% are recycled 🔄. In response to this pressing issue, the EU introduced the SSbD framework. 💻 Today, our experts Arantxa Ballesteros Riaza, Javier Alcodori Ramos, Carla Bartolomé Rodrigo and Teresa Calvo led an online training session, demonstrating their implementation of the SSbD framework within the EU-funded PRESERVE H2020 project. This project (#HorizonEurope2020) strives to replace fossil-based plastics in food #packaging with environmentally friendly bio-based alternatives, all while adhering to SSbD principles. 🔎 More information about the project and how ITENE contributes to ensuring a safer and more #sustainable future ➡ https://lnkd.in/d7YgEMgj
