Your ability to leverage AI is already more valuable than your degree. 3 weeks of trial & error can outweigh 3 years of study. Today.
This might sound controversial, but it's true. According to research from Microsoft, 71% of leaders said they would prefer hiring candidates with AI skills over those with more experience but lacking AI skills.
Yes, your degree gets you into many doors. But so does the practical use of AI.
I've seen first-hand how much AI transforms how people work and how much more and better work they can achieve in less time.
The quote, "If you're not ashamed of who you were a year ago, you didn't learn enough", comes to mind, but it hits home much stronger today than it did in the past.
If you're not leaning in yet, what's stopping you? How can I help? What can I show you to take note?

Do you think this figure from Microsoft is accurate? I'd be surprised if 71% of leaders even knew what AI is. I agree with your point, but I don't see that level of awareness among leaders in the job market. Hardly any job descriptions mention AI skills.

Previously, we talked about the big bad fear of AI stealing jobs.
𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘐 = 𝘫𝘰𝘣 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘧, 𝘭𝘦𝘵’𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦. The actual threat? Sitting still while everyone else gets AI-powered. 💨🤖
Remember when calculators showed up, and people thought math teachers were doomed? Spoiler: they’re still here (and still assigning homework). 😉
Imagine a sidekick that’s smarter, faster, and never complains about Mondays. That’s AI. 💻☕
Don’t get left behind—it’s time to be the Tony Stark of your industry.
👇 What’s your AI adoption strategy?
#AI#DigitalTransformation#AIReadiness#AITraining
Really interesting opinion piece on Bloomberg that discusses how AI tools are undeniably powerful and beneficial for businesses, but their adoption needs to be balanced with a consideration of long-term impacts on career growth and learning. 🌱
Ensuring that new entrants to the workforce still have opportunities to build foundational skills is crucial, even as more tasks become automated. 🤖
Businesses should view AI as a complement to human workers, not a complete replacement, and find ways to integrate learning opportunities into an AI-driven workflow.
Strange to think how the benefits of AI can potentially lead on to odd un-realised knock on effects further down the line...

🤖 Whenever there is new technology, there is always fear. People feared television and the internet before their inception.
It's undeniable that technology has had (and will continue to have) a profound impact on our lives, but it's far more productive to turn fear into knowledge and action.
My latest piece for The AI Journal is all about the human skills AI can't replace. Brush up on them, perfect them, own them.
They are your superpower. 🪄
PS. Learn to use the technology. According to the 2024 Work Trend Index Report by Microsoft, you're 66% more likely to land a job if you have skills in this area.
#AI#Skills#Futureofwork#Augmentation
We’re at an inflection point with AI. It's shaping up to be the trend and technology of our age. Embrace it and learn it. Even if you’re not technical, find ways to incorporate AI skills into your workflows.
Here’s an incentive: wages for AI-related roles were, on average, 25% higher in the United States than for comparable jobs in the same field that did not require those skills.
So whether you like it or not the key to sustaining a career in business is to be adaptable with the times.

In 2024, my learning goal was to study and apply AI and contemplate how this technology might change the way we work. It's been exactly a year since I published my first sharing on AI. Last week, I came across a presentation by the renowned economist Justin Wolfers at the 2024 World Knowledge Forum, which perfectly summarized my learning journey. His content was not only rich in information, but the way he systematically thought through and logically structured his presentation was also a joy to watch.

Here are four key takeaways:
1️⃣Microeconomics of AI “How will AI change work?" :This aligns with my earlier insights. Like all emerging technologies, AI will also transform the labor market. However, unlike past technologies, AI primarily impacts white-collar workers in cognitive work.
2️⃣Macroeconomics of AI “How will it change the overall economy?" : According to research, AI can boost GDP by an average of about 10% over the next decade. The conclusion seems straightforward, but understanding the speaker's reasoning process behind this result is far more enlightening.
3️⃣Political economy of AI “What are the political divides?" : Key issues include who owns the critical AI technologies and whether the market will become monopolized. Therefore, we need sound policies to regulate AI market competition.
4️⃣Me-economics “How you can adapt?" : If you plan to invest time in enhancing your skills, avoid those that will inevitably be automated by AI, such as programming and writing skills. Although physical labor jobs won't be affected, they tend to have lower relative incomes. Thus, the speaker advises focusing on science (defined here as solving problems using scientific rules and methods) and critical thinking. He also suggests practicing using AI to solve different tasks daily, which will help you better understand how to use AI with a complement mindset.
My journey began with skepticism, evolved into amazement and mild anxiety about AI's capabilities, and now I can confidently and proficiently use various AI tools. I'm assured that the skills I have developed over the years will not only be preserved but will also be empowered by AI in my personal life and work. I eagerly anticipate the further development of this technology and hope this sharing will encourage you to embark on your own exploration journey.

The Future of Work and AI?
👉 85% of people say AI makes them more creative.
👉 By 2030, 68% of job skills will evolve – even if your role doesn’t change.
Here’s the reality:
Jobs are no longer static titles – they’re fluid tasks.
In fact, 70% of roles on this year’s “Jobs on the Rise” list didn’t exist 20 years ago.
The question isn’t “What’s left for humans in the age of AI?”
It’s “What’s possible?”
