This article has an interesting take on the apparent disconnect between what employers are prepared to offer for pay raises this year and what employees expect to receive. While there's no question that competitive wages and total compensation help get talent in the door, a supportive and engaging work culture is a key factor in employee retention. Without the latter, total comp often is not enough for employers to hold on to talent in a tight labor market, even if pay and other components align with employee expectations. An effective HR strategy requires putting workplace culture front and center.
