Subject: Concerns Regarding the Impact of Park Entry Fee Increase and Travel Inefficiencies Between Maasai Mara and Serengeti Jambo Madam CS , I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding two critical issues currently affecting the tourism sector in our country. Firstly, the recent decision by the Narok County government to double the park entry fee is likely to have dire consequences for the tourism industry nationwide. This increase will disproportionately impact the micro-economy and the small community-owned camps and lodges, which play a vital role in sustaining local tourism. The potential for job losses is significant, which could have a devastating effect on the livelihoods of many Kenyans. It is disheartening to observe that such a decision was made without adequate consultation with all relevant stakeholders. I urge your office to engage with Narok County officials to reconsider this fee hike and ensure that future decisions are made with a more inclusive approach. Secondly, I would like to bring to your attention the challenges faced by tourists traveling between the Maasai Mara and the Serengeti. Currently, it is necessary for tourists to take at least three flights to move between these two renowned wildlife destinations, despite the fact that they share a common border. This situation is particularly ironic given that the wildebeest can migrate freely across this border, yet tourists are burdened by unnecessary travel obstacles. This inefficiency not only diminishes the experience for tourists but also represents a missed opportunity for cross-border tourism growth. I propose the establishment of a border crossing that would allow for easier movement between Kenya and Tanzania, similar to the seamless crossing at Victoria Falls between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Such an initiative could significantly enhance the attractiveness of our region as a prime tourist destination. I believe that addressing these issues promptly will contribute greatly to the sustainability and growth of our tourism sector. I look forward to your favorable consideration of these matters. Thank you so much and hope this concerned will be addressed. You can kindly reach out to me on +254729788207 or Info@sceatravels.com

Has Tourism Become Elitist? What happens when ecotourism is priced out of people’s hands? How does this impact the way in which we perceive wildlife? Our CEO, Dr. Krithi K. Karanth 's research in 10 of India's premier national parks has revealed significant findings, including the steep rise in tourism costs. Once affordable, visits to these parks have become increasingly expensive, making it harder for people to experience these natural sanctuaries. Nighttime Wonders: Observing Turtles Nesting on the Conflict Islands There’s something truly magical about watching these ancient creatures come ashore under the cover of night. Every year, on the beautiful Conflict Islands, we are privileged to witness sea turtles nesting and laying their eggs—a ritual that has been taking place for centuries. It’s an awe-inspiring experience, and one that reminds us of the incredible role these turtles play in our oceans. Why Do Turtles Nest on Different Islands? Sea turtles are known to return to the same beaches where they were born to lay their eggs. This behavior, called natal homing, is an extraordinary feat of navigation that still baffles scientists. Here on the Conflict Islands, we are fortunate to be part of this vital ecosystem where turtles come to nest each year during turtle season. #ConflictIslands #SeaTurtleConservation #TurtleWatching #CICI #EcoTourism #ProtectOurOceans #TurtleNesting #WildlifeConservation #SustainableTravel #MarineLife #SaveTheTurtles #TurtleSeason #ConservationHeroes

Greenland has come up with an innovative way to prevent tourism from harming its natural assets and culture. The idea is to classify sensitive areas as either green, yellow or red zones, Polar Journal reports. Green zones would be completely open to tour operators, while red ones would be off-limits. Yellow zones would be somewhere in between. You could call it a traffic-light system for tourists. What do you think of the proposal? Could it work in your country? You can read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/dPfr7JM3 Polar Journal AG #tourism #beautyspots #naturalassets #arctic #arcticregion #arctictoday #greenland #visitors #masstourism #nature #wildlife #cruises #sustainability #sustainabletourism #tours #touroperators #nogozone Photo: Valleys cut by glaciers of the Greenland Ice Sheet along the mountains of Greenland (Jim Urquhart / Reuters).
