As a participant in the Salzburg Global Corporate Governance Forum, I'm deeply engaged in our exploration of climate and nature governance. A crucial question emerging is: Can new approaches to governance or collaborative structures enhance outcomes? We're grappling with how boards can effectively respond to multiple drivers that require companies to address challenges and seize opportunities in the climate and nature space. It's fascinating to see how this ties into discussions on the profound effects corporate decisions have on a wide range of stakeholders - from future generations to communities and workers across global supply chains. The complexity of these issues demands innovative thinking. I'm particularly intrigued by the potential for new collaborative structures that might allow boards to more nimbly address climate and nature crises while balancing diverse stakeholder needs. This forum is proving to be an invaluable platform for exchanging ideas on how governance can evolve to meet these pressing challenges. Looking forward to further insights as we continue to unpack these critical topics through connections, collaborations and partnerships.
On Monday, we welcomed board directors, academics, and subject-matter specialists for the start of our latest program of the Salzburg Global Corporate Governance Forum. This year's topic is "How Can Corporate Governance Address the Accelerating Challenges of the Climate and Nature Crises?" Our partners include CLP and PwC. This year's program is also sponsored by Nancy Voorhees - The Alan M. and Nathalie P. Voorhees Fund.
