I'll explain in this tweet the advantages such a visit has for a Rwandan citizen. For a Rwandan citizen, President Kagame's visit to Senegal to meet with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and members of the cabinet signifies a diplomatic effort to strengthen ties between Rwanda and Senegal. This could potentially lead to new agreements or collaborations in areas such as trade, security, or cultural exchange. Such a visit can also be seen as an opportunity for Rwanda to expand its diplomatic and economic influence in West Africa, which could ultimately benefit the citizens through increased opportunities and partnerships. Francis Gatare, the CEO of Rwanda Development Board, has disclosed that over the last three years, trade between Rwanda and Zimbabwe has increased by 50%. Rwanda's imports from Zimbabwe have risen by 52% during the last four years, while exports to Zimbabwe have increased by 8%. As Zimbabwe is ready to seize possibilities in Africa, the third edition of the Rwanda-Zimbabwe Business Forum commenced, marking another significant development in economic diplomacy. The forum presents workable ideas for strengthening ties between Zimbabwe and Rwanda, such as establishing new alliances and drawing in outside capital. Rwanda's exports reached US$7.6 billion in 2023, 5.2% more than expected. #OTL #otrovato #ConnectTradeThride #Trading #Orascominvestment #GlobalTradeLeaders #GlobalTrading #BreakingTradingNews #TradingInsights #tradingatyourfingertips

On #Angola's refusal to blindly support #DRC's foreign policy in the Great Lakes Region, Levi Kabwato says: “We have to draw some kind of relationship between the changing of the guard in Angola - President Santos leaving and the new administration coming in - and the evolving needs of Angola as a state. Angola is now saying, 'Wait a minute! We can no longer just watch things happen in the DRC, and we back the DRC as a matter of principle. We now need to protect our interests. We have an influx of refugees coming into the country, and we need to do something about all this.’ So, João Lourenço's government in Angola is taking a much more programmatic stance. What we are seeing in terms of a shift in stance, particularly towards the last years of Kabila's rule when he was trying to cling on to power, is that Angola is starting to tighten its stance. They began to look at the situation and said, 'We can no longer support you in what you want to do because it directly affects our national security interests. It also affects our relations with other countries.’” Watch or listen to the full show on our channels YouTube: https://lnkd.in/dUp4jjV3 Rumble: https://lnkd.in/e2GkAKQw Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eY_eKkJz

The crisis in eastern Congo is reaching a critical point as M23 rebels, backed by Rwanda, advance further south after capturing Goma. President Paul Kagame remains defiant in the face of mounting international criticism, rejecting accusations that Rwanda is fueling the conflict. With tensions rising, countries like Germany and the UK are taking diplomatic and economic measures, yet the situation on the ground remains unchanged. This escalating conflict is not just a regional issue, it’s a geopolitical powder keg. The stakes are high, with neighboring countries like Burundi and South Africa getting involved. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts, including those led by France and Angola, continue to struggle in securing peace. Will the region see a peaceful resolution, or is a broader confrontation inevitable? The world is watching. ⚠️ #Rwanda #DRCongo #Geopolitics #ConflictResolution #Africa

After #Mali, Burkina Faso and #Niger has announced the confederation, #ECOWAS nominated Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye #Faye to engage with the three military-led member states to try to reunite the region. There are some reasons behind this decision. The younger president of the continent wasn’t yet elected, when relations between the juntas and ECOWAS deteriorated last year after the coup in Niger and the risk of intervention. In addition, despite the fact that #Senegal is an ally of the West, Bassirou Diomaye Faye wants to revise the old economic agreements with France, "to free the country from dependencies in its politics" - and this is something that the leaders of the junta should generally "like". However, in the near future, this is unlikely to bear fruit in uniting the #Sahel due to the ongoing tensions and the disposition of junta leaders. #Africa #ForeignPolicy #africanpolitics #westafrica

#Rwanda – Unstately Rwandan president Paul Kagame accused his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, of lacking sincerity following their telephonic conversations regarding the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Kagame’s thoughts in this regard come amid long-standing bilateral tensions between the two countries, which have been inflamed by a South African troop deployment against Rwandan-backed rebels in the DRC. Despite hostile rhetoric, direct conflict between South Africa and Rwanda is not expected given the strategic and reputational repercussions of such actions. Instead, a severance of diplomatic ties is the most likely outcome; this could have consequences for socio-economic dynamics in both countries. During my conversation with my brother, Daro Umaigba, I mentioned that many of our leaders lack a true African experience. Most of them have never lived in or visited an African country unless it was for official duties. As a result, it is difficult for them to consider Africa when designing policies. For instance, if you read the campaign documents of most African presidential candidates, you will not find references to the African Single Market Integration facilitated by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat or the Open Border agenda, which includes the protocol on the "Free Movement of Africans" or the Single African Air Transport Market. These agendas have the potential to create millions of jobs and promote shared prosperity through African economic integration. We need leaders who prioritize internal (African) considerations before looking externally. Rwanda 🇷🇼 has set an example that we should all follow. To visit Rwanda as an African, you only need to get on a plane—there are no visa restrictions, no unnecessary immigration delays, and no discrimination, even if your country does not have a good relationship with Rwanda. As President Paul Kagame said, “We are each other.” Move Africa Move (MAM) #MAM
