🎾 As a big tennis fan... (and the Tim who really should have had a hill named after him for just his pure determination on the tennis court if nothing else 🤣 )... I’m on the edge of my seat (and next to a vomit bag 🤣) keeping a close eye on the Draper vs Sinner semifinal at the US Open. 🎾 Exciting times at Wimbledon ahead! 🌟 When I first joined IBM, I was eager to see how AI could revolutionise how we experience sports, and it has been nothing short of incredible! IBM's AI technology is transforming data into meaningful insights and captivating stories for tennis enthusiasts around the globe. 🎉 From real-time match statistics to personalised fan content, we're making every moment at Wimbledon more engaging and interactive. Being able to witness the intensity of the matches, while also knowing that we're bringing fans closer to the action through innovative technology, is an experience like no other. 🌐✨ One of my favourite memories of Wimbledon was rushing around London last year with a friend, to find an open space outside to watch the Men's singles final, on a big screen, in the sun 🌞 (as did the the majority of the London population). We eventually settled on watching the final outside a cafe jointly on one of our phones. Despite the environment not being what we intended, the technology gods played their part, and we still enjoyed an intensely exhilarating final, that I don’t think we will ever forget. Provide an engaging digital experience to tennis enthusiasts around the world during the tournament, which hosts hundreds of matches per each year and give fans all the information about their favourite players. The crucial point is that most of these matches are not broadcast on television, and therefore do not have any spoken commentary. To meet this challenge, IBM partnered with the USTA, leveraging IBM watsonx to create generative AI models for features like Match Insights and AI Commentary. In order to provide this content, 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲z𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟕 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 points per tournament.
