Tamazi Toloraia lived through Georgia’s civil war, when even getting bread required standing in long queues under gunfire. Later, he emigrated to Ukraine with his wife and two children. His family lived in the Luhansk region and Kharkiv before settling in Kyiv, where they were on February 24, 2022. After enduring a month of bombings, Tamazi managed to bring his immobile wife through Lviv and Warsaw back to his native Georgia. Today, he is 77 years old. We share Tamazi’s story, one worthy of the big screen. #RefugeeStories #VolunteerHeroes #JourneyOfHope #ResilienceInCrisis #KindnessInAction #UkraineToGeorgia #HumanitarianSupport

Does anyone in my network really think that the extermination of Northern Gaza that is happening *right now* is for the greater good? Does anyone think that the senseless slaughter of children and their families through starvation, dehydration, snippers, apache helicopters, drones and bombs is actually going to make the world a better place? Does anyone think that it's actually going to improve prospects for your/our children? Or for humanity at large? Does anyone think that the extermination of Northern Gaza will stop at Northern Gaza? Will Stop at Gaza? Will stop at Palestine? Will stop at Lebanon? Syria? Jordon? Does anyone - anyone - really, truly, think that this is still self defence? If you do. Then self defence against what? Self defence against the *resistance* against the *illegal occupation* that is central to the plans for the *colonisation* of the Middle easy under the plans for Greater Israel? Or is it something else? Because if we're going to watch a genocidal colonisation play out can we at least be honest about it. ______ P.S. STOP KILLING CHILDREN AND THEIR EQUALLY INNOCENT FAMILIES FOR LAND AND RESOURCES JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK THEIR LIVES ARE WORTH LESS THAN YOURS ARE. Image: The design of "Greater Isreal" also known as the Promised Land. A map of the Middle Easy showing a line delineating "Greater Isreal" including Occupied Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and parts of Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait and Turkey.

#russia interesting article about the dire state of infrastructure in Russia. This is in Karelia near St Petersburg, which used to be part of Finland until WWII. Imagine how much worse it is in the Siberian Far East and other far flung regions that Putin has ignored and left to rot. Well chronicled by veteran Russia expert and author Colin Thubron in his book The Amur River. https://lnkd.in/eQqcfAez

A very wise man once said, “History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamour of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people” - Martin Luther King I am very proud to be part of the Centre for Information Resilience an organisation that works tirelessly to break that silence through rigorous verification and evidencing of human rights abuses and war crimes. We have two major recent updates to share in a sea of other vital work going on around the world. 1. Latest documentary from our Eyes on Russia team highlighting the executions of unarmed Ukrainian POW’s by Russian soldiers: https://lnkd.in/eD-vdxn6 2. This week we launched the Israel-Gaza Conflict Map showing more than 1300 verified incidents including infrastructure damage, aid obstruction, degrading treatment and more. The map will continue to be updated and can be accessed on our website https://lnkd.in/evxP-P76

Inspired after spending a week with Mais A and the remarkable The White Helmets leadership in the Bay Area. Over the past several months, we’ve collaborated to strengthen their resource mobilization strategy—targeting foundations, high net-worth donors, and forging partnerships across academia and the corporate world. What’s humbling is what they’ve taught me in return: the immense challenges of saving lives and protecting over 6 million people in Syria, all while navigating the complexities of a conflict perpetrated by illegitimate leaders and perpetuated by competing geopolitical forces (US, Russia, Iran, Hezbollah, ISIL, Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel). 🚨 The White Helmets mission is more crucial than ever, and external support remains vital to sustaining their lifesaving efforts. https://lnkd.in/ead6mt6p #ResourceMobilization #HumanitarianSupport #WhiteHelmets #SyriaCrisis #NonprofitLeadership #HumanRights
