On Friday our Co-founder @kevinliub published a letter to the Metis community that included product updates and future developments that are planned. Let's review what we’re working on for growth and innovation and some recent milestones. What We’re Working On In our effort to scale Ethereum and advance Layer 2 technology in line with the vision of @VitalikButerin and the broader Ethereum community, we're doubling down on: • Expanding our Decentralized Sequencer infrastructure • Migrating data availability to Ethereum using blobs • Integrating fraud proofs We're actively making progress towards integrating @ProjectZKM which will bring cutting-edge capabilities to Metis such as: > Hybrid rollup infrastructure that will combine the best of optimistic and ZK rollup technology > zkVM that will enable access to native BTC liquidity directly on Metis🌿 We’ve implemented a user growth strategy, and our governance team has restructured the Metis Grants Framework. We’re collaborating with @Gitcoin, @thriveprotocol, and @P1Xlabs to bring high-quality projects to the Metis ecosystem, distributing the responsibility of verifying grant applicants and project milestone delivery; and ensuring greater community involvement and transparency in our ecosystem’s growth. 🤝 Product Updates: Cross-chain is the future, and we're collaborating deeply with @chainlink who is leading the charge. Our integration with Chainlink's CCIP opens up new possibilities for seamless cross-chain asset transfers, unified liquidity, and the onchain facilitation of institutional real world assets. As CCIP is more deeply integrated into our ecosystem, market silos will be mitigated and market efficiency will be significantly enhanced for Metis-native assets. Web Summit & Web3 have a common problem: ego 😳 Last week, Lisbon received thousands of people who attended Web Summit. This year, I’ve not attended but I received the same feedback from the majority of the attendees: “It’s not with it! I’m disappointed”. Like a lot of Web3 professionals and enthusiasts, Web Summit atrendees are commonly looking for the next successful start up, unicorn or golden goose! And Web Summit became so big, but so empty, which makes people chasing something it’s not there. There are innovative projects and companies, talented professionals and great networking opportunities. But, as always, it requires work and dedication. Which is something much more deep and important than VC funds and arrogant founders who are full of their own ego! 🫠 Attending side events makes this perspective even more real. I keep promoting Kraken Digital Asset Exchange everywhere I go. I do it because it’s my job but essentially because we have a common mission: accelerate crypto adoption, so that everyone can achieve financial freedom and inclusion. And I do it being myself and looking for the best networking moments and opportunities, looking for the right product fit around different people and connect them to Kraken OTC 🐙 Although, this year, Web3 side events had tons of desesperate and frustrated people… ‼️…not celebrating Bitcoin ATH price because of their belief that their startup has a better tech or they were just busy! 🟢 You’re here because or Bitcoin! ‼️…saying they deserved a better crypto or Web3 job because of their talent and skills. Not understanding how the company XYZ has not considered them for the role they applied! 🟢 Be humble. This a very competitive market. You’re not ready! ‼️…pitching products without even knowing or respecting other people position and importance in the space! 🟢 You urgently need some self-development. Go home and keep training your pitch. Also, please, be sure you have a proper project and product first! ‼️…looking for an exchange listing contact while they can find listing applications all over the internet! 🟢 Start small and keep growing. Does your crypto project or startup actually needs a token?! ‼️…acting arrogant because they’re successful since their crypto bags just pumped or they made money with their investors funds! 🟢 Please go elsewhere and save it for CT on X ‼️…not respecting other people ideas/projects because they’re just getting started! 🟢 Congratulate! Provide positive feedback! Connect newbies to your contacts. Leverage their learning curve! …and much more! Ego everywhere! Fortunately, at the end of the day, the best will prevail and those ‘wanna be’ startup founders, investors or Web3 professionals “because it’s cool” will be gone. I’m glad for all the amazing people I met during this Web Summit 2024 season (hoping for a better 2025). You’re awesome! You’re doing great! Give it time! If someone told me in 2017 that crypto would go from a niche obsession to a global movement—with so much going on that it takes Excel sheets just to track side events—I’d probably have laughed. But here we are, thousands strong, connected across projects, countries, and time zones, gathering at Devcon in Thailand. The question is—how do we take all this energy and intensity and integrate India into the heart of it? I’m heading to Devcon as a lawyer, and also as someone who’s watched web3 grow in real time. I want to see first hand what learnings I can import back to India: fresh ideas, best practices, even the hard lessons these projects have learned around regulation. India’s web3 community is hungry for growth, and maybe it’s time we position ourselves not just as adopters but as active builders in this ecosystem. In my view, web3 has transcended its definition as an industry, it's becoming pulse-like, a life force with so many different voices and visions. It’s a culture. Some of these side events have more folks coming to them than entire conferences we’ve had in India. Now that’s something telling. So if you’re at #Devcon too, let’s connect. I’m here to learn, to listen, and to push for change. The reality is, India’s potential in web3 is massive, but potential alone won’t move us forward. What have you learned?
