“Five years ago, we sat in similar panel discussions, talking about the same problems that, until today, remain unsolved... Yet, we continue to discuss how we're “still” working on them. 🤔" In some ways, I agree - we are still at the beginning. If we consider that the transition from Web1 to Web2 took around 14 years, we're still in the toddler phase of Web3. But here's the thing - Web2 brought tangible use cases that enabled billions of people to start for example businesses online 🚀. In Web3, from my perspective, it still feels like a pond filled with more or less geeks. We’re still waiting 🙏🏼 to solve real-world problems that could genuinely improve people's digital lives. Web3 should be simplifying our lives, but instead, I see many great startups falling down the 🐇🕳️ of complexity. Just a few simple examples: our 🪪 ID card, 🩺 medical records, and 🚘 driver's license could all be stored in a digital wallet - simple, and securely managed by us, with full control over who gets access. Or take 🗳️political elections - why aren't we voting digitally yet, with blockchain ensuring security and transparency? We need stronger security for our digital identities and personal data, but I still don't see this happening. Yes, regulation is crucial, and much of this needs to occur within government frameworks. But let's start by truly identifying the pain points on which we can build… That’s why I believe in the potential of events like #CVSummit 2024 by CV Labs which play such a significant role. Keep going, you are doing an excellent work. 🤙🏼🙌🏻 Such a great start-ups was born this year, who truly work on what’s matter, like Catalyze 🤲 And last but not least, I loved to see familiar faces like Carina Schuster Kinga Pilat Janina Vinklere Ray Laracuenta Johann Nathanaël Hartmann Cindia Luest Michael Barskyi Ulrike Lierow-Schad …

I choose to face challenges head-on. Maybe I’m always following in Jen-Hsun’s footsteps. So, I’m venturing into things that no one has ever done before. Claude described what I do as “You are exploring new meanings, possibly beyond our current understanding of AI or intelligent systems.” After all, if something is too easily, it would be highly competitive. I don’t like things that are too easy, and I understand that “Hard” itself can easily deter many people because it is absolutely not easy. Therefore, I respect the team greatly; all of them know that “CHIC is actually doing something beyond the applications and understanding of Web3.” If that’s the case, then the frontline of this battlefield will not be short. I don’t think what we need now is to hype up token values or technology applications. We must admit one thing: besides us, we can’t convince more people to adopt Web3. So, no matter how advanced the technology is, without users, it’s useless. Thus, I return to the basics: “Why.” Why do people want to enter Web3? That is “something unprecedented.” Although DeFi, DAO, RWA, and virtual assets might be things that Web2 doesn’t have, from the perspective of the average person, these things are too complex, unnecessary, and uninteresting. We are standing at the technological revolution of AI x Web3. The technology is not the final product presented to users but answers their tough question: “Why do we need to connect to Web3?” Where are the "users"? Not "retail investors." I find I have to see "day one." Not only future. "Why people love crypto and virtualization?" #Web3 #Why #NotWhat #Users

Life Update: Launching Rabble Labs 🚀 This has been in the works for a while – Lumos Labs and BuildersTribe are teaming up to launch Rabble Labs, combining our expertise and community power. A.k.a Raghu Mohan and I are doing this together again, but this time with our super smart, techno wiz cofounder who wants to stay anonymous. We kicked off Lumos Labs in 2018 to tackle a big issue in the blockchain world – not enough engineers building cool stuff with this tech. To fix this, we launched programs to get more builders into the blockchain space, working with protocols and chains to boost on-chain adoption. We’ve managed over 40 hackathons and over 10 accelerators, bringing 100k builders into the ecosystem. After 5 years of building a community, we nailed down what people really want: Rewards, Jobs, Education, Support, and Recognition. So, after careful thought, we’re merging with Builderstribe, a platform with 2000+ founders and 400+ investors via buidl.so. This will bring more opportunities for the community. Introducing Rabble Labs: Building a suite of on-chain platforms to empower builders. Over the years, founders and builders have shared common pain points: 💠 We need support in terms of network – be it capital, talent, or advisory. 💠 We need support with distribution, hype, and visibility. 💠 We need support with user adoption for our Dapps. We’ve been supporting and solving challenges for builders from day one. Buidl.so: A marketplace for founders to network, and connect with VCs, talent, partners, and experts. Buidl.so – a marketplace for founders to network, and connect with VCs, talent, partners, and experts. Our collaboration with Hitesh Malviya and Dyor Exchange, and the inception of ScribbleDAO, has been a huge success in innovating distribution through research-driven threads on X. Lastly, the user acquisition problem – we’re launching Rabble. I won’t say much here, but you don’t want to miss out. Stay tuned, and keep Rabbling. #Blockchain #Web3 #Startup #Innovation #RabbleLabs #LumosLabs #BuildersTribe

What is the future of Layer2s and rollups? Main insights from the panel discussion “Advancing Layer 2: Next-Gen Solutions and Breakthroughs” with: John Adler, Co-Founder Celestia Labs Ed Felten, Co-Founder Offchain Labs Ye Zhang, Co-Founder Scroll Alex Gluchowski, Co-Founder & CEO Matter Labs Andy, co-founder @ Rollup 👯 Rollps are everywhere, but fragmentation remains The growth of rollup clusters and modular design has made launching rollups easier than ever. However, interoperability remains a challenge, with fragmented ecosystems relying on bridges and shared governance. True seamless interaction between rollups is still a long way off. interoperability will become the next big focus as rollups scale, but expect it to be slow and gradual. 💽 App Chains are rising The rise of application-specific chains is on the horizon. As interoperability matures, more applications will migrate to their own dedicated rollups, optimizing for custom needs without user fragmentation. While app chains offer customisation, they also face problems like migrating liquidity and maintaining user experience. The rise of app chains is inevitable, but the ecosystem must evolve to support them. 📅 Web3 is becoming more modular L2s have shifted towards modularity, enabling developers to add features and experiment with AltVMs, pre-compiles, and economic models. This modularity accelerates innovation and drives Ethereum's growth. Ethereum's modular approach strengthens its position over monolithic chains like Solana by fostering a faster pace of experimentation and adaptability. 🛡️ We need to push for decentralisation The ecosystem is at a crossroads, with centralised rollups (like Coinbase Base) potentially dominating. Maintaining Ethereum's ethos of censorship resistance and decentralization is crucial. Community-driven efforts to ensure decentralisation and transparency are vital to counter centralized control, particularly as rollup adoption accelerates.
