Trashverse India Foundation is thrilled to have made our debut at the 3rd Edition of the Morais City - Trichy Marathon 2024 on December 8th! Partnering with Morais City and GIZ India, we demonstrated how sustainability can be the heart of large-scale events. This event had an incredible turnout with 983 participants out of 1000 registered for 5k and 10k run. A small yet powerful initiative made all the difference. Before the race began, the host took a moment to remind participants: "Let’s keep our marathon clean – avoid littering and use the bins provided!" The result? A significant reduction in litter across the marathon route and a visible commitment from participants to embrace sustainability. Along with a simple nudge to participants to avoid littering, Morais City made a right decision: replacing plastic water bottles at hydration points with water dispensers to avoid generation of plastic waste and wastage of water. All wouldn’t have been possible without the invaluable technical support from GIZ under their "India - Waste Solutions for a Circular Economy" initiative.
