In this episode of #LeadersinCICommunity, Sander van Geffen, Global Director Transformation at Stolt Tankers, reflects on the journey of integrating #ContinuousImprovement into the organization. In this short clip, he shares how, after some persistence, the program began to demonstrate its true value, proving that CI not only works but actively improves the business. This realization created a strong drive to implement CI, laying the foundation for their current approach: a comprehensive system of strategic management, breakthrough improvements, and daily management, all supported by robust training and coaching. Building culture with, through and for your frontline employees is a lot easier when your leaders are hauling much of that freight. Not because they feel they have to. But because they want to. Dustin McMillan and I had such a great conversation about the ins and outs of manufacturing cultures and how even the lightest of lifts by leaders and managers can have a multiplying effect across the business. Supporting Mental Health = Unlocking Peak Performance I recently had the amazing opportunity to speak with the Founder of October Health, Alon Lits during my recent trip to South Africa 🇿🇦 in between my key notes at HR + L&D Innovation & Tech Fest Africa. I love what Alon Lits and his team are doing around mental health and the impact they are making in organisations globally 🌏 Our conversation reinforced something I truly believe: mental health directly impacts performance. When I’m at my best—able to be myself, take time to exercise, and surround myself with people who truly embrace me—I perform better. And being in an environment like Navro, where I'm not only allowed to challenge ideas but encouraged to, makes all the difference. Just last week in our Exec team meeting, we discussed the importance of not having a team that just says “yes” or simply copies and pastes solutions without first thinking, "Does this make sense? Is this the right answer?" We want a team that thinks critically and challenges respectfully and recognize the importance in embedding this in all our people processes to create a culture to enable this. That said, let’s be real: Navro is not for everyone. It’s a fast-paced, dynamic environment where change is constant. You have to be able to adapt and stay resilient. Personally, I love it—it’s actually great for my mental health. Being part of a company that moves quickly, empowers you to think for yourself, and pushes you to grow every day has been an incredible experience. Psychological safety is essential to mental health. It's about creating a space where you can truly be yourself, challenge those more senior, and feel empowered to share your ideas. This isn't just about being kind—it leads to better creativity, better ideas, and overall better performance. At Navro, we’re proud to continue evolving our company culture where we can talk openly about what’s going on in our lives, understanding that what happens at home impacts our work. Whether it’s through offering counseling, therapy, or compassionate leave, we ensure that our people feel supported so they can focus on doing their best work. Let’s continue to break down the stigma around mental health and create workplaces where everyone feels safe to thrive. 💪 #MentalHealth #PsychologicalSafety #Leadership #TeamCulture #DiversityOfThought #Navro #EmployeeWellbeing #PerformanceBoost #Innovation
