This lecture relates to the monuments covered in Dr #RichardMcClary’s recently published monograph on the #preMongolIslamicarchitecture of Central Asia, primarily focused on the area rules by the #Qarakhanids. They were the first dynasty to use #Persian in their monuments, and bridge the period between the #Samanids, of which very little #architectural evidence survives, and the far better known and more monumental structures of the Timurids.

Very important last sentence at the end of the Torino Declaration of 1994, on the Preservation of the Art Nouveau Architecture: "When restoring Art Nouveau Architecture one should be more open removing later additions and reconstructing the original appearance than for other monuments, in order to secure the original artistic value."

International Day of Peaceful Communication was founded by Ruben M. West in 2019. The day was created to raise awareness of the power of peaceful communication. The celebrations intend to promote peaceful communication as the norm for families and communities as well as governments, and international institutions. 🌍 🌐 🌎 Today also marks World Architecture Day. The history of architecture is the history of humankind — they are interlinked. With successive changes in architecture comes development in our culture, tradition, commerce, technology, and intellectuality. 🏛 🕌 🏰 🗽 The first architecture era of renown is the Neolithic period, which was between 10000 and 2000 B.C. The structures of this era were usually rectangular, and dwellings were built independently of each other. #CulturalIntelligence #InternationalDayOfPeacefulCommunication #WorldArchitectureDay #Architecture #NeoliticPeriod #ClassicalPeriod #Romanesque #Roman #Gothic #Renaissance #NeoGothic #Modern #Postmodernism #ArtDeco #UnitedStates #Egypt #Australia #Italy #France #Europe #Greece https://lnkd.in/gbfeM_vv

Part II | The Possibilities of Historical Reinterpretation Part II, encompassing various explorations of issues related to the renovation and restoration, reinterpretation and reconstruction of historic architecture, and through such diverse design research and theoretical depictions, provides examples concerning urban and spatial potentials as well as humanistic and historical reinterpretation possibilities within the realm of contemporary architectural design, aiming to enrich its methodology and vocabulary, ultimately leading to more profound and diversified practices. In this part, the focuses range from central historic urban blocks to contemporary historical urban districts in Guangzhou, and even broader indigenous areas in China, covering examples from the renovation of specific conserved architectural entities, the evolution of historical urban neighborhoods, to the reinterpretation of abstract principles from Chinese traditional architecture, and the further introduction of propositions for the revitalization of representative post-industrial areas in the United States. It's #InternationalCatDay - the perfect time to learn about the RIBA crest, featuring two #lions This image was inspired by the Lion Gate entrance to Mycenae, built in the 13th Century, and one of the great #architectural monuments of ancient Greece. These powerful creatures represent #strength and #authority, while the motto reads Usui civium decori urbium which translates as "For the use of the people, for the glory of the city". There is debate as to whether the original #sculpture actually shows lionesses, who in fact do most of the hunting and caring for their young, so may be the more prudent guardians of a #city or #institution. Only qualified Architects who sign up to RIBA's charter are allowed to use this logo, demonstrating their commitment to the highest #standard of #professional and #ethical practice.
