On Earth Day 2024 theme: Planet vs People Radical changes are always slow. As long as the consumer chooses convenience (and price) over the planet, and there's no regulation for big companies to reduce the use of plastic and single use cups - nothing will actually change. So it's very inspiring to see someone doing something about it like Iida Miettinen, from Kamupak - who are on a #ReUseRevolution mission in reducing the use of disposable cups and boxes. As Iida puts it: "Changing the world is possible together with customers, partners, industry organizations, regulators and competitors." Portugal is one of the next countries in Europe to implement #DepositReturnScheme thanks to SDR Portugal and Recyclever is gearing up to support. When legislation begins in 2025, statistics show that the current collection rate of 45%* of all drinks containers sold will be dramatically improved over the coming years, more closely aligning with EU targets, and transforming the litter landscape across Portugal as other well-established #DRS countries have proven. We're thrilled to be helping accelerate the transition to a #circulareconomy in this beautiful country with Recyclever Reverse Vending Machines #Sustainability #RVM #Recycling #Environment *Source: Sensoneo 2023

Reusable IFCO Crates Now Available for Rental in Moldova! 📦This season, reusable plastic #IFCO crates can be rented in Moldova. This sustainable and efficient packaging solution is available for fruit and vegetable producers and exporters. 📦Thanks to the #USAIDMoldova Competitiveness and Rural Resilience Activity (RCRA), #IFCO Romania representatives recently visited Moldovan fruit exporters. This visit explored the potential of using returnable crates and discussed rental, usage, and return details. 🏪Access to these crates supports global sustainability goals and opens new opportunities for Moldovan exporters, facilitating direct sales to European supermarket chains. By using #IFCO crates, exporters can meet supermarket requirements for high-quality, sorted fruit, potentially reducing intermediary chains and ensuring Moldovan fruits reach European shelves. 🔄Producers can rent IFCO crates for up to 30 days via the My IFCO platform. This system promises better product protection, reduced losses, and optimal transport conditions, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient supply chain. #moldovatastemakesthedifference #Moldovafruct #USAIDMoldova

♻️ The largest deposit return system on the globe.💡 Romania has one of the lowest recycling rates for packaging in all of Europe - until now. The country has joined the ranks of European countries implementing deposit return systems (DRS) for single-use beverage packaging, becoming the 14th nation to adopt this eco-friendly initiative. ➡️ With nearly 80,000 collection points, Romania's DRS, operated by RetuRO, is poised to become the largest of its kind globally. This move aims to tackle Romania's low recycling rates with RetuRO spearheading efforts to manage around seven billion beverage containers annually. ♻️ Under the new system businesses involved in beverage production, import, or sales are mandated to participate, covering containers made of glass, plastic, or metal ranging from 0.1 to three litres. Each bottle carries a deposit of approximately ten cents, incentivizing consumers to return them for recycling. Sensoneo, a Slovakian tech firm, provides the IT backbone for Romania's DRS, enabling seamless integration and data collection throughout the recycling process. Despite facing various challenges, including logistical complexities and security measures, RetuRO's IT Director, Cristian Mihai, underscores the successful implementation of this ambitious system within a short timeframe. Overall, Romania's ambitious DRS aims to revolutionize beverage packaging recycling, setting a benchmark for comprehensive, integrated systems worldwide! 🙌 👉 Read more in our Tigthly Packed article: 🇬🇧 https://bit.ly/4csGg1i 🇩🇪 https://bit.ly/3Tt1Zh3 #tightlypacked #interpack2026 #circulareconomy #packagingsolutions #packagingexperts
