We're excited to announce our inclusion on Inc. Magazine's 2024 #BestInBusiness list, in multiple categories, including Education and Enduring Impact: 15+ years in business. The annual Best in Business Awards celebrate the exceptional achievements of companies that have made a profound impact on their industries and on society at large. In particular, Kaplan won for its All Access License, which enables #collegesanduniversities to help their students prepare for a variety of high-stakes admissions and licensing exams that they need to score well on to reach their educational and professional goals — with zero out-of-pocket costs for students. Kaplan North America CEO Gregory Marino said: "Kaplan is honored to be named to Inc.’s Best in Business list, a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence and our mission to help our students, partners, and clients achieve their educational and career goals. Whether it’s through innovative learning solutions, professional development programs, or test prep that empowers advancement, Kaplan is dedicated to transforming aspirations into achievements. This award is recognition of the trust millions worldwide place in us and the exceptional outcomes we deliver. It also serves as an inspiration to our dedicated team of thousands across the globe, who work tirelessly to drive meaningful change. Together, we’ll continue to make a lasting impact on #education, #workforcedevelopment, and beyond." In October, Inc. also named Kaplan a winner in its third annual Power Partner Awards, which honors B2B organizations that have proven track records of helping businesses grow. And in May, Fast Company named Kaplan as a winner in its 2024 World Changing Ideas Awards, also for its All Access License. We look forward to announcing new All Access partnerships soon. On elite-school bias in higher education (or the obligation that comes from working your way from the edges to the center). I’ve worked at great football schools and top 50 Business schools. I can tell you unequivocally that there is bias in how you are treated based on your name tag. At a football school, they ask you about the team. At a top 50 business school, they ask you about your work. I’ll never forget joining a top 50 school, suddenly people stopped treating me like an academic hillbilly and acted as if I served up knowledge on a silver plate. So. If you are affiliated with a top 50 business school, you have it far easier time publishing and securing grants than people that sit on the edges. See here: https://lnkd.in/dnEZNun8 So what to do? It doesn’t help to complain. It helps to A) recognize the inequity (it’s not easy). B) work hard (work your way to the center). C) extend a hand to others once you arrive. And when the opportunity comes, help others, be kind, and speak out. Every so often someone asks me why I keep working? Now that I’m at a top 50 business school? Why do I work with so many people not at top 50 schools? And why do I share so many tips and tricks? Why? Because so many great ideas are being studied by people that work at schools on the edges and not at the center. Because I know what it is like to work at a school at the center - to not have resources - and to have to work harder to be seen as credible. Because I know the power of a mentor - and having someone give you a hand - and want to pay it forward. I can’t help everyone - these days I stick to a smaller group of colleagues - I am burning out - but I can speak out, share tips, and mentor the people close to me. And. I hope other people at Top 50 Business Schools will do the same - bc good scholars can be found at most schools and great ideas can bloom anywhere. If given a chance! #academiclife #academiccareers #obligation

❓ Is higher education still worth it? For many students, the answer lies in work-based learning programs like co-ops, which bridge the gap between academics and career readiness. These programs not only provide real-world experience but also help students gain the confidence to take their next step. 🌟 For Riipen’s CEO and Co-Founder, Dana Stephenson, this was personal. As a business student at the University of Victoria, Dana completed three co-ops that opened doors and shaped his career. Inspired by the transformative power of these experiences, Dana co-founded Riipen to give more students access to opportunities that launch careers. “What we heard from so many students was, ‘If I could just get my foot in the door, then I could get my next experience.’ That’s what co-op is for,” Dana shares. 👉 Read the full article from The Hechinger Report to explore how experiential learning is redefining the value of higher education: https://hubs.li/Q02Yq_Bw0 #ExperientialLearning #HigherEd #WorkBasedLearning
