As we reflect on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we can honour the survivors of residential schools and remember the children who never returned home. This day challenges us to learn from the past and continue the journey toward healing and justice. At BHP, we are committed to Call to Action #92 and to walking this path with Indigenous communities, guided by respect, partnership, and reciprocity. Our Canada Indigenous Partnerships Plan outlines a positive step forward in working together to create a shared, prosperous future. Reconciliation is ongoing, and it’s up to all of us to listen, learn, and act. #TruthAndReconciliation #NDTR #EconomicReconciliation

On this #NationalDayForTruthAndReconciliation, we remember the victims and honour the survivors of residential schools. We acknowledge the profound impact this system has had on Indigenous Peoples. Today is a moment to learn, reflect and work toward reconciliation. Did you know that in 2023, the share of management positions held by First Nations, Inuit, and Métis slipped to 2.4% from 2.7% a year earlier? This is less than half the Coalition's 5% target for management positions. Building a more inclusive Canada means ensuring that Indigenous Peoples are equal partners at the table in developing better policies. #NDTR #EveryChildMatters

Yesterday, we marked National Sorry Day - a day to remember and acknowledge the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’. We recognise the resilience and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the pain experienced as a consequence of these forced removals. Our vision for reconciliation is for all Australians to work together to address injustice and provide equality of opportunity, and to develop a vocational education and training (VET) sector that embraces the knowledge, leadership and strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2023-2025 acknowledges what our agency will do to achieve real and sustainable outcomes for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, employers, training providers and communities. May we all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation. View our Innovate RAP here: https://ow.ly/kFhC50RJqs8 #ASQA #sorryday2024

Reflecting on Truth and Reconciliation - Two Years Later In years prior, we at RAW Group took a moment to acknowledge the importance of Truth and Reconciliation Day. Today, as we revisit those sentiments, we recognize that the journey towards understanding and healing is ongoing. September 30, 2024 marks another year of reflection on the impacts of the residential school system in Canada. As we repost our message from last year, we're reminded that: Awareness is just the beginning: Educating ourselves and others about the history and legacy of residential schools remains crucial. Let's continue to learn and share. Action is necessary: Wearing an orange shirt today symbolizes our commitment, but let's also engage in actions year-round that support Indigenous communities. Reconciliation is a process: We honour the survivors and those who did not return home by actively participating in reconciliation. This means listening, understanding, and advocating for change. Honoring National Truth and Reconciliation Day: Reflecting on Our Shared Responsibility Today, on National Truth and Reconciliation Day, we pause to honor the survivors, families, and communities impacted by Canada's residential school system. Reconciliation is not a single moment but a continuous journey that calls upon each of us to listen, learn, and take action. Whether through educating ourselves about Indigenous history, supporting Indigenous voices, or advocating for systemic change, we all have a role to play in building a more inclusive and equitable future. Let’s use this day to deepen our understanding, foster empathy, and strengthen our collective resolve to create a country that honors the rights and cultures of Indigenous peoples. #TruthAndReconciliation #IndigenousRights #EveryChildMatters #ReconciliationJourney #NWLR www.nwlr.ca
