Milk tankers are a common sight on our highways, but have you ever thought about the challenges they face to ensure our milk is delivered safely? NTI's Adam Gibson takes us on a journey inside the milk tanker in this eye-opening video. The sloshing of liquid inside a tanker can be incredibly powerful and unexpected, as anyone who has touched the brakes at 100km/h on a tanker full of molasses with broken baffles can attest. This video shows just how much motion and force the milk inside the tanker experiences when navigating bends on the road, making it clear why safety features are so important. Even with all the safety features in place, the forces at play can still make it difficult for a milk tanker to remain stable. So next time you see a milk tanker on the road, take a moment to appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into ensuring our milk is delivered safely. 🔎 Periodic inspection and maintenance of tow vehicle and trailer tires are essential to towing safety, including spare tires. Proper tire pressure affects vehicle handling and the safety of your tires. You can find the correct tire pressure for your tow vehicle in the owner’s manual or on the tire information placard. Things To Remember: ✅ Before each tow, check the tire pressure to make sure it is at the level indicated on the tire sidewall or VIN label. ✅ Tire pressure must be checked while the tire is cold. ✅ Do not check tire pressure immediately after towing the trailer. Allow at least three hours for the tires to cool if the trailer has been towed for as much as one mile. ✅ Tires can lose air over a period of time. #TireMaintenance #RoadSafety #TowingTips #TrailerSafety #TrailerIndustry #KeepOnHauling #RoadSafety #TrailerTip #NATM #TrailerSafetyWeek #NATMDecal #TrailerMaintenance

A tug test is a critical safety procedure performed by truck drivers before hitting the road. It ensures that the truck and trailer are securely connected and that their braking systems are functioning properly. When a truck is hauling a massive load, it relies on two parts: the truck (engine-powered with the driver’s cabin) and the trailer (an unpowered cargo carrier). Their connection is crucial but vulnerable, which is why the tug test is performed to ensure safety. The connection between the truck and trailer is secured by a fifth wheel—a robust coupling system that locks them together. This mechanism allows the trailer to pivot smoothly as the truck turns, ensuring stability and maneuverability. The tug test checks this connection. The driver gently pulls the truck forward while the trailer’s brakes are engaged. This simulates real-world movement to ensure the trailer won’t detach and that all brakes are working as intended.
