A BIG THANK YOU TO THE YOUNG WOMEN'S ORGANIZATION of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Old Katy, Texas Leda Harrington, the president of the organization and 12 young women packed hygiene kits during their weekly activities. Blankets were made at the young women’s camp during the summer holidays. Each girl picked out her own fabric and lovingly cut and tied each blanket. They got very attached to them and gave a part of their hearts with each blanket. We are so grateful that they have joined Katy Cares in our mission to help and support single parent families. When the community joined hands with nonprofits, more families can and will be impacted.

🌟 Giving Tuesday is over, but the spirit of giving should never end. 🌟 Our communities thrive because of organizations that dedicate themselves to supporting those in need—whether it’s helping older adults maintain their independence or guiding children and teens through unimaginable grief. Why continue giving? Organizations like WellWise Services Area Agency on Aging, Tri-County Office on Aging (TCOA), and the Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan ensure that older generations can stay in their homes, enhancing mobility and independence. These programs don’t just provide services—they give dignity and peace of mind to aging adults and their caregivers. Similarly, ❤️ Ele's Place West Michigan is a lifeline for children and teens processing grief. Their services, provided entirely free to families, create a safe space for young hearts to heal during incredibly challenging times. These programs depend on the generosity of the community. Every dollar contributed helps someone regain stability, independence, or hope. As we move forward from Giving Tuesday, let’s keep the momentum going. Consider making a donation or spreading the word about these amazing organizations. Together, we can create stronger, more compassionate communities. #GivingBack #CommunityImpact #SupportLocal #AgingAdults #YouthSupport #NonprofitsMatter

Like last week, I had to record right after meeting with my business coach because I had another revelation about how New Coyote's growth path will go. It is a given that the bare minimum to work with us is a commitment to equity, but I’m starting to realize that more than that. I need a commitment to impact. It’s all well and good to have principles that mimic centering marginalized people, but when you have a real chance to change not only the reality of your population, but the ways that they’re being harmed overall, do you get brave and give up on the status quo in order to lean into liberation and create real change for the people you serve? Or do you push out the radicals who are creating this change in order to turn a blind eye to the reality that we could be living in? Dr. Nicole Truesdell talks about bringing competence to incompetent spaces. This phenomenon occurs where people who do not know how to serve our populations hire us for our marginalized identity and our lived experience, and then fire us when it turns out we actually do this work better than they do. People in power are frequently unwilling to skill up or learn new strategies because that would imply that the current strategies they are using are not good enough - which we already know is true, based on the continuing reality for marginalized people in this world. To combat this phenomenon and create something that l strongly feel will significantly impact this industry and this region, I decided to convene an (invite-only) braintrust of people who I’ve personally worked with, who I know for a fact have been pushed out of incompetent spaces for their higher level of competence. I don’t know yet know what it's going to be or the impact we will have, but I’m certain that it’s gonna be amazing.
In this week's video, NCC CEO Marina Martinez-Bateman (they/them) discusses the problem of hopelessness in the nonprofit sphere, why it exists, and how they're seeking to address it with their new nonprofit braintrust: "There are a lot of people for whom the idea of all the homeless shelters closing and all the food banks closing because we have everyone housed and fed - that is terrifying for them. They have to live in a world where there will always be a constant number of starving, houseless, underrepresented, harmed, imprisoned, enslaved people that they tend to but never dismantle the thing that is creating that suffering. For some of us who have been harmed... hope is a really painful emotion. The idea that it doesn't have to be this way is a really painful emotion, because then we have to accept that it didn’t have to be that way for us. " https://lnkd.in/g-GNbX79

October can be a scary time, and not only because of Halloween! The government's fiscal year starts on October 1st, which means this is when organizations learn whether or not they've received large grants. For the nonprofits that rely heavily on that funding, this can be a make or break time for their sustainability. Lotus Foundation's founders strove (and continue to strive) to ensure our organization does not depend on competitive funding, which is one of the many ways we are unique. Because of this, clients can rest assured that we are not going anywhere. We are here to serve and support survivors of human trafficking now and forever. Additionally, our partner organizations can rest assured that they can continue relying on us and referring to us now and forever. And lastly, our donors can rest assured that any support they provide to Lotus Foundation always goes 100% to the cause they hoped, never to line anyone's pockets or support anyone besides survivors of human trafficking. If you are a survivor of human trafficking, please reach out to us for support in any way that you feel comfortable - email, website, phone, or social media. If you are a community organization with a referral, please utilize our phone number or the website. If you are a donor interested in furthering our support of survivors, please reach out via phone or email. #lotusfoundationco #humantraffickingawareness #survivors #communitysupport #nonprofit

🚨 We’re in the FINAL DAYS of our $25 for 25 Days campaign—ending December 27th! 🚨 Thanks to our incredible supporters, we’ve made incredible progress, but we still have $2,700 left to reach our $5,000 goal. Every donation counts toward amplifying awareness, advocating for systemic change, and ending the silent epidemic of missing Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). 🎤 It all began on February 3, 2023, when Mics for the Missing held its first event on National Missing Persons Day. That night, WBZ News covered our powerful discussion and brought awareness to three local missing BIPOC women. The impact was immediate—sparking conversations, building community, and strengthening partnerships with law enforcement. Since then, what started as a conversation has grown into Mics for the Missing Inc. (MFTMI), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and a movement to shine a light on the invisible crisis of missing BIPOC individuals. But we’re just getting started. With your support, we can continue: 🎤 Raising Awareness: Highlighting stories that often go unheard. 🎤 Expanding Educational Workshops: Empowering communities with safety tools and knowledge. 🎤Advocating for Change: Influencing policies that protect the most vulnerable. Together, we can turn up the volume and inspire change. Let’s ride this wave of hope and justice into the New Year! 🎤Donate today and amplify hope: https://lnkd.in/eHjrhrbK

Nonprofit leaders, your dedication to shape a positive future for our society truly inspires. Just like in Oklahoma, where a non-profit organization is tackling child abuse head-on. By raising awareness about neglect and maltreatment, they are breaking barriers. But the journey doesn't end here. We've heard it before, haven't we? Successful nonprofits aren't just about making change - they're about effectively spreading the word. Contrary to popular belief, marketing our cause isn't a one-size-fits-all game. It's about understanding the stories of the people we serve, creating connections, or as in Oklahoma – 'humanizing' the child abuse crisis. As leaders, let's learn from their journey. Let's educate, advocate, and collaborate our way to success. Tell your story, foster community partnerships, and engage in community outreach. Remember, you're not just building a non-profit, you're establishing hope. #NonProfitWisdom #PurposeDriven #GiveHopeDaily #ConnectCreateChange
