Cleaning your hearing devices is an overlooked part of hearing aid ownership! I put together this video showing how I clean my brand new Widex hearing devices from BLUEMOTH Hearing! A big thing for me when choosing hearing devices is the discreetness. When I was in high school, my teacher told me to remove my hearing aids because they were "distracting other students". This stopped me from wearing them for the next 8 years. I feel super confident and comfortable wearing these devices. People hardly know I'm wearing them! There are a handful of really good manufacturers in the industry so the difference between a good and bad hearing aid is usually down to the service, fit, and aftercare from your audiologist than the device itself. Discovering an audiologist you can trust will ultimately result in the best hearing aid for you, your lifestyle, and your hearing loss. 💡 What role does your facility play in making sure that residents who have speech and/or hearing impairment have the necessary assistive devices so that they can communicate?  For residents that are hearing impaired:  ✔ Assess the resident to determine if they have a hearing assistive device. Write down your question if necessary.  ✔ Include the use and maintenance of the hearing device in the resident’s care plan.  ✔ For residents who do not have adequate hearing despite wearing a hearing aid, complete a re-evaluation of the device or an assessment for new causes of hearing impairment.  ✔ Adjust environment by reducing background noise.   ✔ Implement other hearing assistive devices, such as a word board, as needed.    For residents that have speech impairment:  ✔ Assess the resident to determine if they use a speech assistive device, such as a communication board. ✔ Include the use and maintenance of the speech assistive device into the resident’s care plan. ✔ Optimize the resident’s ability to make self understood.  Avoid rushing the resident. Break longer questions into parts and wait for reply.
