Today's grand rounds on return-to-work limitations for oncology patients hosted by ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation was incredibly insightful! Dr. Ada Chen and Dr. John O'Neil provided valuable information and data on why it’s essential for us as clinicians to recognize the significant role that work plays in our patients' lives—not just financially but also in terms of quality of life and personal identity. I see and hear these concerns first hand from my patients at Moffitt Cancer Center. As we discussed, integrating vocational rehabilitation and collaborating closely with patients on their return-to-work goals should be a priority. This involves truly listening to our patients’ unique needs and acknowledging the physical, emotional, and financial impacts of cancer treatment. Let’s keep pushing the research forward and advocating for practical, supportive care models that prioritize a holistic approach to recovery and reintegration into the workforce. #vocationalrehab #access #financialwellness #survivorshipneeds

Did you know that over 7.4 million people in the UK are living in cancer care deserts, located more than 45 minutes away from their nearest radiotherapy centre? Travel times have emerged as a major concern for radiotherapy patients. At Ergéa, we are dedicated to enhancing patient access to diagnostic imaging and cancer care across Europe and we are deeply aware of this challenge. We are proud to have supported the recently released Radiotherapy UK report, which sheds light on the crisis in radiotherapy services across the country titled 'Equity of Access to Cancer Treatment'.   Having in consideration that the incidence of cancer is projected to rise by a third to over 500,000 a year by 2040 – average of 2,000 cancer patients a week, Radiotherapy UK is urging the government to analyse the reasons behind the significantly lower uptake of radiotherapy in the UK compared to other comparable countries and put a plan in action to close the care gap and ensure access to treatments closer to home for cancer patients.
