Kencho Namgyal’s Post

Handwashing with soap is one of the most cost-effective and inexpensive ways to prevent disease. Promoting hygiene behavior through children has multiple benefits. It improves hygiene practices among children, who then bring these behaviors back to their families and communities. This not only helps develop lifelong habits but help bring about generational change, which is essential for long-term behavior change. #WASHinschools #3StarApproach to WASH in Schools #PACIFICWinS

How do you practice proper hygiene behaviour in your school? In Nikierere Primary School in Kiribati, a WASH club led by students from Years 1-6 is responsible for ensuring proper hygiene behaviours and encouraging their family to do the same. With support from UNICEF Aotearoa and New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade, UNICEF is ensuring improved access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in outer island primary schools in Kiribati.
