Did you know? Around 90-110 billion tons of material are excavated globally every year, with construction and mining at the top of the pile.
The construction industry alone moves about 40-50 billion tons annually -think soil, gravel, and other materials moved to build roads, bridges, tunnels, and foundations for our cities and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, mining digs up 50-60 billion tons, a big chunk of which is made up of construction aggregates like sand, gravel, and crushed stone (you know, the stuff we need to build things in the first place).
Together, construction and mining account for 80% of the excavation industry. That’s a lot of dirt, and we’re moving it one ton at a time!

Heavy excavators are incredible machines that represent the power of engineering and technology. They can move tons of earth with precision, reshaping landscapes for construction, mining, and infrastructure development. These machines are vital to modern industry, combining strength with versatility, as they can dig, lift, and transport materials in environments where manual labor would be inefficient or impossible.
that is to show that our mine is well equipped for our gold mining
As you can see, this is a bulldozer.
It is a kind of earthmoving machinery that can excavate, transport and discharge rock and soil, and is widely used in open pit mines. Its participation is needed in the construction of waste dumps, the levelling of automobile waste dumps, the accumulation of scattered minerals and rocks, the levelling of work plates and construction sites. It is not only used for auxiliary work, but also for main mining work. Examples include stripping and mining of placer deposits, pulling and boosting of scrapers and rock ploughs, and reducing the height of stripping steps with other earthmoving machinery when there is no transport mining method.
It plays an indispensable role in the construction work of the actual construction site.

Surface Mining – Material to go
As the name suggests, these beasts were initially utilised in the mining industry but from a civil construction perspective, these units make perfect sense in so many applications. A major advantage being utilised is the ability to effectively undertake excavation and crushing in a single pass with one machine. This eliminates the need for multiple pieces of plant, the requirement for a substantial footprint and lower CO2 emissions.
Whilst it depends on the type of material being cut, the excavated material produced by the surface mining process can often be used as a fill or aggregate material for use on other areas of the site or transported offsite for any number of uses without further processing.
There are a multitude of examples of excavated material from surface miners being used as the base or sub-base course on other road or civil projects where the material can be carted from one site to another, ready to be immediately used.

Lucapa Diamond to Restart Production at Australia’s Merlin Mine with Phased Plan
Lucapa Diamond Company Ltd (ASX: LOM) has announced a phased plan to restart production at the Merlin diamond mine in Australia’s Northern Territory, which has been on hold for years. The first phase, spanning 18 months, involves excavating and dredging five existing pits. This phase will require an investment of A$15 million (US$10 million) and is projected to recover approximately 67,000 carats, generating an estimated revenue of A$42 million (US$27 million). The second phase, lasting 27 months... Read more on the link below

#Minegrid: The Gold Standard for Underground Mine Support 🛠️
For decades, Minegrid has been the gold standard for underground mine support in #ongwall operations. Proven in the most extreme conditions, Minegrid has consistently upheld its reputation as the industry benchmark for quality.
✔️ Advancing Safety and Efficiency in Underground #Mining
When it comes to rib support and roof control in underground mining, traditional steel wire mesh and rib supports are no longer the only options. Minegrid offers a modern, high-performance alternative, designed to meet the rigorous demands of mining operations.
Manufactured with high-tenacity polyester and coated with a fire-resistant, anti-static layer, Minegrid is engineered for durability, ease of use, and unmatched safety. Its proven track record in enhancing longwall recovery, rib stability, and highwall reinforcement makes it an indispensable solution for mining and quarrying.
Why Choose Minegrid Over Steel Wire Mesh
-High Tensile Strength: With options from 35 kN/m to 1,000 kN/m, Minegrid delivers robust support for challenging underground conditions.
-Lightweight Design: Easier to handle and install compared to steel wire mesh, reducing labor time and costs.
-Chemical Resistance: Non-corrosive material ensures long-term reliability, even in harsh environments.
-Enhanced Safety: 🔥 Fire-resistant and anti-static properties meet MSHA standards, keeping your crew safe.
Applications in Mining:
- Rib Support: Reinforce tunnel walls effectively, mitigating the risk of rockfall and deformation.
- Roof Control: Stabilize ceilings in underground passages for safer operations.
With its combination of strength, versatility, and ease of use, Minegrid continues to set the bar for underground mining support.
