Kenya Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development’s Post

We have hosted the National Farmers Awards Ceremony in Uasin Gishu County., celebrating the vital contributions of Kenya’s farmers—the backbone of the nation to Kenya's agriculture food and nutrition security. The event recognized outstanding achievements in various categories, including farmers, seed growers, millers, and county value chains. This year’s theme, “Transforming Agriculture: From Seed to Food and Nutrition Security for a Secure Tomorrow,” aligns closely with the government’s ambition to boost agricultural productivity for enhanced food security, income generation, and job creation. Speaking during the event, PS PS, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh, commended farmers for their resilience, dedication, and pivotal role in driving Kenya’s agricultural progress. He emphasized the government's efforts to transform agriculture into a sustainable, inclusive, and innovative sector, highlighting key initiatives such as youth empowerment, leveraging technology, and protecting vital resources. We also laud the County Governments for their collaborative efforts to support farmers, particularly through the provision of affordable farm inputs, ensuring agriculture remains a cornerstone of Kenya's economic and social development. The PS also announced that National Farmers Day will now be celebrated annually on 19th December, with events hosted in various counties across the country. Other leaders Present included Governors Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim (Uasin Gishu), Kenneth Makelo Lusaka (Bungoma) among other leaders. #BETAKilimo #Mkulimakwanza
