🚗 Recently, I visited a car service center for a quick wash and found myself in a bit of a rush. My car ended up with a new team member, while a more experienced technician was taking a break. Initially concerned about time, I approached the senior technician to expedite the process. What followed was a valuable lesson in perspective. The new team member took his time, meticulously ensuring every detail was covered and validated. On the other hand, the experienced technician, while efficient, occasionally overlooked finer points. This experience shifted my thinking on the importance of learning attitudes versus sheer experience. While experience is undoubtedly valuable, attitude and a willingness to learn are equally crucial. Clients may initially value experience, but they ultimately appreciate individuals who show dedication, thoroughness, and a commitment to continuous improvement. #LearningAttitude #ContinuousImprovement #CustomerService #CareerGrowth

In the struggle against the technician shortage, one area of improvement is technician retainment. “The bottom line is, I don’t hate what I do, but there are better ways to make a living,” said Brandon Harmatiuk, sr. master technician at Subaru. “The amount of effort it takes to become an elite technician applied to a different career could probably get you more freedom and better comp." There are several potential reasons for technician disillusionment, including unpopular flat-rate payment structures, work-life balance (or lack thereof), and a lack of mentorship in the industry. As a maintenance technician and veteran that was in repair while serving, it is important to remember that we are also in the field of customer service...many I have noticed have seemed to forgotten that fact. Just because we are the ones in charge of getting machinery back up and running doesn't mean we can't do it with some gratitude and talk to the operator to make sure they know its ready again. Even though I am no longer in management (personal choice) it is VERY important to remember that the operators are essentially our "customers" and as maintenance it is our job to take care of them with a good attitude and get the job done right, not just a quick fix to get to the end of the shift. #maintenancetech #customerservice #rant #veteranmindset

Does this technician look happy? He absolutely dont. The every day stress that a technician has to be addressed. Or you will have a revolving door in your dealership. But, let's take a look at the situation. Time is money. And technicians pay a lot of money for tools which creates more stress. They aren't getting a return on their investment. That combined with the every day stress, and the body aches makes it look like a tough situation for them, and the Service Manager. Here is my tip of the day. It worked great for me. The tech who can perform the repair the quickest needs that job. And every one of those jobs. Too many cars? Rank the technicians on a scale. If the quickest tech isn't available, work the list from the top down. Before you know it, you have a shop full of producing technicians. Then everyone is happy.

What are your thoughts when you see a technician and a service van? I’ll give you my $0.02. Most beginning techinicans aren’t just given a van on the first day of their trade. They typically have to prove themselves in order to be awarded such an expensive piece of equipment. By “prove themselves”, I mean lots of training, shadowing, learning, hard work and sometimes long hours. When I see a technician pull up in a service van, I immediately think that this person has put in a lot of effort to prove themselves as a responsible, hard working person. Next time you see a service van arrive at your home or place of business, maybe take the time to shake the tech’s hand and ask how they got to this point in their life. I guarantee it will be an interesting conversation. #HVAC #Plumbing #WeLoveOurTechs #AccurateHeating #AccurateCooling #AccurateMechanical

Working as a technician on aircraft isn't just a job; it's a craft. Every day, I’m amazed by the complexity yet precision needed in aerospace assembly. When fitting components together, it strikes me that each piece, no matter how small, plays a critical role in the larger system. Each bolt, every panel, and wire are essential for the entire aircraft to function as it should. Much like in life, where even our smallest actions can have a significant impact. Picture this , missing a single bolt in an aircraft assembly could lead to catastrophic failures. Similarly, neglecting tiny details in our daily lives can snowball into bigger issues down the road. This attention to detail makes aerospace work relatable to everyone. Whether you're in aerospace or not, realizing the importance of every small task helps us appreciate our role in the world. Think of these points in your daily routine: - Every small step counts. - Consistency and precision build towards a bigger goal. - Paying attention to detail prevents future problems. Next time you’re working, think of yourself as an important piece in a larger mechanism. No action is too small to make a difference. As an aircraft technician, I see the value of small details every single day. Let’s apply that in our lives and work. We’re all part of something bigger.

🚧👷🏼The Power of Teamwork: Operator & Dirt Technician in Sync🦺🚧 In our line of work, success isn’t just about the equipment we use; it’s about how well our team works together. The relationship between a machine operator and a dirt technician is a perfect example of teamwork in action. To get the job done right, they need to move in perfect sync—communicating, adapting, and anticipating each other’s next move. It’s this seamless flow that turns a challenging project into a job well done. The operator relies on precision and control, while the dirt technician’s keen eye and hands-on approach guide the way. When these roles come together like clockwork, that’s when we see true progress on the job site. Teamwork isn’t just a skill; it’s the force that drives everything we do at Phillips Skid Steering.
