🎮 Video games as concert space in the future. Recently, I read a very interesting article about the future of concert venues. One possibility that emerges in the future is the ability to access special concerts in venues that will no longer be in our physical reality but in a virtual space. In fact, there's no need to wait for the future to access such concerts. Currently, we can find this format in games like Epic Games' Fortnite or the Metaverse. These events blend music (aiming for it to be live) with the interactivity of video games, creating a unique experience for players (or should I say spectators?). 🎤 Examples of this include the concerts given by DJ Marshmello or rapper Travis Scott in Fortnite. 🎵 It is clear that in the future, virtual reality concerts will have great significance (especially for the convenience of enjoying them at home), although I don't believe they will ever completely replace in-person concerts. What do you think? Do you believe virtual concerts will replace in-person concerts in the future? Attached is the article in the first comment ⬇️

🎶 Is this the metaverse we envisioned? Maybe not, but it’s unfolding in ways that are pretty exciting. The recent Fortnite event in Times Square shows how things are changing. What started as virtual concerts in Fortnite maps with artists like Ariana Grande now blend live and virtual audiences—connecting Times Square attendees with millions of Fortnite players worldwide. This shift marks a trend: while the full “metaverse” may feel distant, digital and real-world experiences are merging fast. And with millions tuning in daily, Fortnite is one of the leaders of this transformation. ➡️ Have you attended a Fortnite concert? #Metaverse #Innovation #VirtualEvents #Gaming #DigitalTransformation #Fortnite #Amdocs

Are virtual concerts the future of music? They’re gaining huge traction on platforms like Fortnite and Roblox – and more and more artists are taking note, making use of the digital world to engage and grow their fanbase. Concerts on Fortnite reach virtual audiences of millions, and interactive events like Fortnite Festival get fans involved in playing along with artists like Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish and The Weeknd. On Fortnite and similar platforms like Roblox, users can use “emotes” (character animations) to have their avatars dance along. And, of course, in voice chats, users can sing any time they like! When people hear music, they want to join in – and that’s the premise behind our real-time Sing-to-Sing voice transformation technology: to give users more ways to join in, more easily, and enable them to sound the way they want to be heard. #Gaming #AI #AIaudio #Fortnite #Roblox

Why Gaming platforms like Roblox are the place to be for musicians 🎵 "We’re trying to meet fans where fans are at." Artists are signing deals with game companies to: ➡ release new songs through interactive events ➡ sell background music for games ➡ sell virtual goods featuring their likenesses, as well as music for players’ avatars. ➡ They are also building in-game worlds where their music is played. The benefits from taking your art to games like Roblox: ✅ standing out from competition ✅ reaching new audiences ✅ revenue through music licensing and sales of virtual items ✅ an alternative to music subscription services where growth is slowing down ✅ an alternative to TikTok where song snippets are short ✅ reaching an audience of millions at live interactive concerts Olivia Rodrigo created a virtual virtual hangout last December for fans with virtual merch, dance moves and a scavenger hunt. Tracks from her album are playable within the experience. Other artists like Eminem, The Kid Laroi, Cher, Nicki Minaj,... have also been doubling down on gaming to reach new listeners. Lady Gaga has announced an upcoming stint on Fortnite. We are going to see more of this in 2024 🚀 Source: Wall Street Journal - see comments below Image: Olivia Rodrigo #roblox #gaming #marketing

I’ve been thinking more about “events” in gaming platforms - both in game context and acts (music). Prompted by two experiences that I am currently 🛠️ has me thinking - where are the live acts? #SoundOn 🎶 Did you know the last Roblox concert event was almost 2 years ago?! It was The Chainsmokers Concert Experience (▶️ the video below via the duo’s YouTube page) & it came with collection of unique UGC assets along with a few controversies. In general, productions like these are $ and lifted by many folks. The act is pre-recorded but promoted as a live event - which often means it’s open to view/head into & the UGC is released. It’s the real-time experiences that are highly popular as “live streaming”. Gaming, in general, is live and is real—time - so where are the 🎶 concerts? More recently, the “gaming events” (as in limited time runs of collected games like The Classic & The Hunt) produced this year so far have faired well. I am curious when we will see more live entertainment - by way of musicians and even brands making their way to the global Roblox stage. Who would you like to see inside a Roblox “live”? If it works, how best to see Taylor streaming her last show of the Eras Tour inside the socialverse?🤞 #roblox #liveevents #music #entertainment

Platforms like Roblox and Fortnite give music artists from up-and-comers to icons an opportunity to connect directly and meaningfully with #GenZ and #GenAlpha around the world. I had the great chance to chat with Elias L. from Billboard about the growing importance of #Roblox and #Fortnite for artists to build fandom and relevance. I couldn’t have said it better than Elias: 🔊“While it still remains best known to teens and their parents, evangelists see gaming hubs like Roblox and Fortnite as the new frontier of social media — another space where musicians will need to establish a presence if they hope to remain commercially relevant with younger listeners.” Check out the full article here 📰 👇 https://lnkd.in/gw4Crm8m #Metaverse #Music #Marketing #Innovation #Gaming #Media #Roblox #Fortnite

The marriage of jungle music and 90s video games created one of gaming's most distinctive soundscapes. PlayStation's Wipeout wasn't just revolutionary for its futuristic racing - it captured the raw energy of UK rave culture through its soundtrack, setting a new standard for video game music. Jungle's signature fast-paced drum patterns and heavy basslines proved perfect for the era's pioneering 3D titles. Games like Gran Turismo, Ace Combat 2, and Ape Escape embraced the genre, each putting their own spin on jungle's high-tempo energy. The technical limitations of early consoles paradoxically helped drive innovation. Composers had to be creative with limited storage, leading to ingenious uses of sampled breaks and synthesized sounds that defined the era's unique aesthetic. What fascinates me most is how this cultural fusion happened organically - UK developers, immersed in the exploding jungle scene, naturally brought those influences into their work. It wasn't just about adding cool music; it was about capturing the optimistic, forward-looking spirit of the 90s in both sound and visuals. This convergence of underground music culture and mainstream gaming feels unrepeatable - a perfect snapshot of a moment in time when everything felt new and possible. Thoughts on other examples where underground music movements have shaped gaming? https://lnkd.in/exK7V8ZU #VideoGames #GameDev #MusicProduction #Gaming #RetroGaming
