This Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Forest Week 2024, about 100 of our team members, business partners and retailers from Malaysia gathered at Sunway XFarms for an immersive experience in urban farming and composting, embodying this year’s theme: “Small steps together create big change for all.” With support from the FSC® Malaysia office, participants explored the vital role of responsible sourcing in protecting our forests and supporting communities, biodiversity and economies. The event deepened our appreciation and pride for what the FSC® certification and tree logo truly mean for our Kimberly-Clark Consumer and Professional brands such as Kleenex®, Scott® and WypAll® products. 🌱 The Power of Regeneration through Agroforestry 🌱 Agroforestry is an innovative approach that integrates agriculture and forestry, creating sustainable systems that benefit both the environment and local communities. By combining trees with crops, we can restore ecosystems, enhance biodiversity, and improve soil health—all while generating income for communities. I have great admiration for companies like Natura, which exemplify the potential of this model to create value and promote regeneration. A shining example of this in action is Café Apuí Agroflorestal in Brazil. They produce the first sustainable agroforestry coffee in the Brazilian Amazon Region, showcasing how shaded cultivation leads to higher quality coffee while preserving the forest. To date, over 200 hectares of degraded land have been restored using agroforestry systems, while also conserving more than 7,000 hectares of native forest. Their commitment to regeneration not only supports the environment but also provides a livelihood for 83 families in the region. https://lnkd.in/dagG52mf We are proud to support Café Apuí through the Bayer Foundation Women Empowerment Award, reinforcing our commitment to empowering communities, fostering regeneration and forest conservation. Together, we can harness the power of regeneration and create a brighter future for our planet and people! ☕🌳 #Agroforestry #Sustainability #Empowerment #CaféApuí #BayerFoundation #teambayer #regeneration #Regenerativeagriculture #Brazil #CEBDS #Sustainability #ClimateAction #SustainableLiving #EcoFriendly #CircularEconomy #NetZero #ESG #RegenerativeAgriculture #SoilHealth #Agroecology #CarbonFarming #OrganicFarming #AgTech #FoodSecurity #FarmToTable Felipe Albuquerque Jana op den Winkel Geraldo Aleandro Sarah Sophia Perina Sampaio

Many people and organizations perceive commercial fishing as a significant threat to the ability of the seas to maintain healthy ecosystems. They may demand that such activity must be banned. However, we cannot suddenly stop industrial food production, neither at sea nor on land. It would mean hardship and starvation for many people. Instead, we must constantly strive for better and more sustainable food production. It requires creative approaches, tailored development activities, better technologies, and a willingness to adopt even radical changes in the practices. Sustainable commercial fishing can be an industrial-scale operation or a small-scale one, and in both cases very profitable. There are already numerous good examples of this for instance in the Nordic countries.

Over the past days, leaders from government, the private and finance sector, and civil society came together in Brasília, making strides toward a sustainable transition for Brazil’s soy and cattle sectors that support the climate and nature goals. Throughout the event, critical discussions took place, including how to advance on: - the commitments outlined by cattle and soy sector companies in the 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝟭.𝟱°𝗖; - the 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗹; - the lessons and needs from 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 in a blueprint to achieve positive impact; - how to prepare for 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 EUDR; - key federal 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 in key biomes; - latest updates about 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 to enhance conservation. Last week Sea Pact participated in the 4th Annual Latin American Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture Summit hosted by COMEPESCA AC and Pesca Con Futuro. During the Summit, we joined Seafood Legacy and COMEPESCA AC on a panel facilitated by the Walton Family Foundation to discuss pre-competitive collaborations addressing sustainability challenges. Some takeaways from the Summit: - There are A LOT of different initiatives driving impactful sustainability outcomes across Latin America, from technology uptake to supply chain collaborations, many good things happening on the ground/water. -Prioritization is key to the success of any collaboration addressing seafood sustainability. There are many issues facing environmental and social responsibility and any path forward will require organization to increase impact and prevent scope-creep, and may vary depending on where stakeholders sit in the value chain. -Bottom-up (producer/harvester/fisher) solutions to sustainability challenges, along with market engagement efforts (top down), are vital successful long-term sustainability outcomes. Thank you again to the organizers for such a great event!
