Have you ever wondered how buildings can be more than just structures? Let's explore how green building aligns with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to tackle global challenges head-on. Green buildings aren't just about construction; they create healthier, more inclusive communities. They promote good health and well-being by improving indoor environments, contribute to affordable and clean energy through efficiency and renewables, and drive economic growth by creating jobs and inclusive opportunities. Moreover, they are vital in building resilient infrastructure, fostering sustainable cities, and promoting responsible consumption and production patterns. With over 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions attributed to buildings, green building is also a powerful tool in combating climate change. Let's embrace green building practices to unlock the potential for a sustainable future. Whether you're a developer, policymaker, or advocate, join the movement towards green building and sustainable development. Share your thoughts on how green building can drive positive change and inspire action towards a greener, more sustainable future! #Sustainability #SDGs Source: World Green Building Council

I’m incredibly grateful to Montez Group Inc. for the opportunity to attend the US Green Building Council's Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in Philadelphia last month with my colleagues from San Francisco International Airport. It was an inspiring experience, especially as the USGBC rolls LEED v5! A few key takeaways from the conference: 🌍 Decarbonization of building materials is taking center stage in the industry now that we've made significant strides in energy efficiency. 🏛️ Building reuse is being emphasized as the first and most effective strategy to reduce embodied carbon and create more sustainable structures. Retrofitting and upgrading existing buildings is key in reducing carbon emissions, and LEED v5 encourages this. 🌪️ Resilience is also a major focus, with LEED and the industry responding to the growing need for buildings that can withstand climate shocks and disasters. I also truly enjoyed the time spent with my SFO colleagues and the valuable insights shared throughout the event. Looking forward to leveraging these learnings and continuing our work to make buildings more sustainable and resilient for the future!
