Have you ever wondered how buildings can be more than just structures? Let's explore how green building aligns with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to tackle global challenges head-on. Green buildings aren't just about construction; they create healthier, more inclusive communities. They promote good health and well-being by improving indoor environments, contribute to affordable and clean energy through efficiency and renewables, and drive economic growth by creating jobs and inclusive opportunities. Moreover, they are vital in building resilient infrastructure, fostering sustainable cities, and promoting responsible consumption and production patterns. With over 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions attributed to buildings, green building is also a powerful tool in combating climate change. Let's embrace green building practices to unlock the potential for a sustainable future. Whether you're a developer, policymaker, or advocate, join the movement towards green building and sustainable development. Share your thoughts on how green building can drive positive change and inspire action towards a greener, more sustainable future! #Sustainability #SDGs Source: World Green Building Council

2.5 billion Urban populations are anticipated to increase by 2.5 billion by 2050, causing greater demand for new buildings. At the same time, buildings are playing a huge role in greenhouse gas emissions. How can the building sector address this? Although more than 140 countries have announced or are considering net zero targets, many still lack concrete quantitative targets and monitoring mechanisms for decarbonizing buildings at the local level. What is needed are: · New technologies · New processes and procedures · Good innovative projects and case studies · Innovative, forward-thinking in all stages of a project lifecycle · New initiatives and public-private partnerships. What would you add? How can we build more sustainable buildings and cities? https://lnkd.in/dpNvcwhP Josh Harbert Kammy Sanghera Lori Ziolkowski Kimberly Cheslak Susan Heinking AIA, LEED Fellow Tommy Linstroth Lucas Joppa John Messner

Build Green, Live Better 🙌 Our planet is crying out for sustainable solutions, and the construction industry is answering the call. Green building is no longer a luxury but a necessity. By adopting eco-friendly practices, we can create healthier, more energy-efficient, and environmentally responsible structures. From the materials we use to the energy systems we install, every choice matters. Incorporating renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, optimizing water usage, and selecting non-toxic materials are just a few ways to build greener. The benefits extend beyond environmental protection. Green buildings often boast improved indoor air quality, reduced energy costs, and increased property values. Let's embrace a future where construction harmonizes with nature. By choosing green building, we invest in our planet's well-being and secure a brighter future for generations to come. It's time to build responsibly and leave a positive footprint. hashtag #bosstechengineering hashtag #sustainable hashtag #construction hashtag #gogreen

The Australian building industry needs to prepare for a net zero future. Read the thoughts of #HRIA CEO James Oxenham in the latest issue of Build Australia Magazine. With the launch of the Buildings Breakthrough initiative - aimed at making ‘near-zero and resilient buildings’ the norm by 2030, this acknowledges the substantial environmental impact of the building and construction industry, responsible for almost 21 per cent of global energy-related CO2 emissions. It’s time for industry leaders to spearhead the transition, creating a demand for sustainable equipment that can drive technological advancements and make eco-friendly options more accessible for the entire building industry. "Buildings are responsible for 37% of global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and 34% of the earth’s species are enduring habitat loss as a result of urban development. The building sector’s value chain is also fragmented, making its green transition more complex. As emerging economies continue to urbanize over the coming decades, the building value chain must be mobilized to meet net-zero, nature-positive targets. This is also important for building resilience, and ensuring human well-being. This report offers 11 strategic levers for greening the value chains of the building sector." https://lnkd.in/ewdwcJVx #Building #Construction #Sustainability
