A memento of me when I used a pen and a notebook with me during my internship at the 320MW power plant with Ansaldo turbine, and I used to take notes of all their conversations and the things I saw. In fact, the things I learned during my internship were much, much more useful than during my undergraduate studies at university. . #Electricalengineering #Turbine #generator #intership

In early August, RISE (Relevant Internships for Successful Employment) college sophomore Scholars delivered presentations about their professional and networking experiences over the summer to the Evanston Scholars community (Evanston Scholars staff, fellow Scholars, & career partners). Here, William Fogue Wambo (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) talks about his internship at Energy CX. What professional opportunity did you gain over summer 2024? WILLIAM: My internship was with Energy CX, an energy sustainability and procurement company. This is a family-owned and managed company with the mission to educate all companies on how to save energy efficiently. My position as a summer intern at Energy CX demanded an abundance of analysis and research within the lead generation and market intelligence departments. I quickly needed to learn how every property, or company used its energy. I determined which companies qualified and were ideal customers for our company. What did you gain from your professional opportunity? WILLIAM: This was my first internship in a corporate setting and this experience solidified my interest in renewable energy. I am interested in renewable energy as a subcategory of civil engineering. This is the area I want to get into, sourcing energy. I want to head down the route of construction management. I want to see how that side plays out and weigh my options from the experiences I gained with Energy CX.

IESCO Internship - Week 1 I am excited to share my learning experience from my internship at IESCO, which I completed after my 4th semester. This week, I had the opportunity to learn about the significance of the Tripping Register in a 132kV grid station. The Tripping Register plays a crucial role in ensuring reliable and safe operation of the power grid by: - Recording events where protective relays trip circuit breakers, isolating faulted sections of the power grid - Providing vital information for fault analysis, system restoration, maintenance planning, performance monitoring, and compliance reporting Through the Tripping Register, engineers can: - Analyze tripping data to identify the root cause of faults and prevent similar occurrences - Develop informed plans to restore power to affected areas efficiently and safely - Identify equipment with recurring tripping issues and target maintenance or replacement to enhance grid reliability - Monitor tripping trends over time to assess the overall health of the system and identify areas for improvement - Adhere to industry regulations and standards for power grid operation In essence, the Tripping Register serves as a valuable resource for engineers, providing insights into the system's health and operational history. By meticulously recording tripping events, it empowers engineers to enhance grid reliability, safety, and efficiency. I will be sharing my detailed notes from this internship in the coming days, so stay tuned! If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to ask in the comments section or send me a private message. I am committed to sharing my knowledge and experience with fellow students pursuing Electrical (Power) Engineering. #IESCO #Internship #ElectricalEngineering #PowerEngineering #TrippingRegister #GridReliability #Safety #Efficiency
