Delivered on behalf of the South East Strategic Partnership for Migration, our research into English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) provision in the South East of England contributes to a better understanding of the challenges, opportunities and support required at both policy and practice level to boost opportunities for participation in ESOL. To improve access and engagement with ESOL, we suggest: 1️⃣ Centralising ESOL funding to reduce complexity in delivering services to different groups of learners. 2️⃣ Extending Adult Education Budget (AEB) funding to Hong Kong British Nationals (Overseas) to make it clearer for providers to understand how they can provide funded ESOL for this group. 3️⃣ Permitting people seeking asylum to access AEB-funded learning from their point of entry, thereby improving their education prospects and contributing to their successful integration into UK society. 🏛️ 🌐 A study by Studyportals and the British Council highlights the growing number of English-taught programs in non-Anglophone countries. Germany ranked second globally for offering English higher education programs, right behind Ireland. This trend is driven by the increasing demand for English as a medium of instruction due to globalization and the expansion of international business and research. By 2024, Germany had over 2,300 programs taught in English, primarily at the master's level, making it a top destination for international students seeking degrees outside traditional English-speaking countries. This increase reflects a broader European shift toward English-taught programs, making higher education more accessible to non-German speakers. #study_in_Germany #research_in_Germany #DAAD #DAAD_Greece
