As far back as the 1960s, architects of African integration agreed that building infrastructure was vital to lubricate the wheels of intra-African trade and distribute its benefits regionally. The continent's leaders embarked on ambitious projects such as the trans-African highways -- segments of which would eventually stretch from Cairo to Dakar, Tripoli to Windhoek and Lagos to Mombasa. These would provide access to the sea to 15 landlocked countries and improve regional links. #WeKnowAfrica

The #Moroccan government is set to expand its industrial landscape by adding 4,000 hectares dedicated to new #industrial zones, announced Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour during a session at the House of Representatives on Monday. Responding to inquiries on bolstering industrial infrastructure, Mezzour highlighted that #Morocco’s current industrial zones cover 13,000 hectares. In the past three years alone, government initiatives have supported 30 projects, adding approximately 2,400 hectares to the existing area. For the first time, the government has committed to establishing an industrial zone in every province, with projects already underway in #Boulemane and a joint initiative between #ElHajeb and #Ifrane provinces. The goal is to roll out this #initiative across the nation before the end of the current #government term.

LAND DISPUTES IN SENEGAL The State of Senegal suspended land applications for lease in geographical areas deemed sensitive, especially the coasts. In addition, construction sites were ordered to stop. Dakar, M'bour, Thiès and Saint-Louis are the most affected urban areas. Land is a vexing issue in many African countries. Especially when wealthy investors seize agricultural land to build houses. The new regime of Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko has temporarily halted construction for the examination of land files in certain areas, in particular to protect the coastline. As a result of the reviews, unwanted land purchases or land leasing initiatives perceived as a national threat will be significantly hampered. #Sarenolia #Colonialism #ConstructionPolicies #GlobalConstructionPolicies

SETS first project in Kenya helping to contribute to connectivity and more efficient transport in East Africa.
SETS has signed a contract with the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to provide design review and construction supervision services for the construction and upgrade of over 90 kilometers of road connecting the cities of Samatar and Wajir. This road is part of a larger transport corridor that will enhance connectivity and mobility in eastern Kenya. Marking our first project in #Kenya, SETS looks forward to contributing to the realization of the main objectives of this proposed road project, as its impact will positively reflect on avoiding the loss of grazing land along the road and changing the landscape throughout the corridor. Additionally, this project offers solutions to time loss by addressing the poor road conditions, especially during the rainy season when some surrounding villages are cut off from the rest of the country. Our work aims to provide KeNHA with the most efficient technical solutions to support the successful construction of this corridor, which will lead to improved movement of goods and people and enhanced connectivity between Kenya and surrounding countries.
