This series of ‘Climate impact on Building performance’ by the team at WAIN MOREHEAD ARCHITECTS Ltd is fascinating. 🌎☁️🌦️🏡 Seems so logical to only design houses that will compliment and adjust to the environment both aesthetically and in performance, particularly with so many microclimates in Ireland - who knew? 🇮🇪 We design clothing for different levels of endurance and conditioning so it seems only fitting that we do the same for dwellings. My mind is always blown by the amount of technical, practical, environmental and design knowledge required by architects to be able to design a house that will perform as intended, become a home that can endure the stress of external factors as well as maintaining equilibrium with the changing internal conditions, energy levels and still deliver on performance. 💫 I’m even more in awe when these houses are cleverly designed to compliment families and their changing needs, are a thing of beauty in a landscape, use sustainable materials and practices, and still have the highest performing quality that can save on energy bills and reduce negative impact on climate with a passive house stamp. ♻️💥 the epitome of balance 🧘 Design for purpose is more important than ever when we consider and focus on creating sustainable solutions and I love seeing more and more people appreciate the mastery behind Architecture and design. No-one I would trust more to design a perfect home that will last, evolve and give back more than it takes. 🌿🌱🌞🌝 10/10 ⭐️

Our Mill Green development in Hatfield recently won the LABC award for the Best Medium Volume New Housing Development for the Central Region. Our Estate Director Anthony Downs attended a ceremony to accept the award along with BROOKS MURRAY ARCHITECTS LTD. and Jarvis Homes, our project partners. The awards are judged on criteria such as - Building Regulation challenges and how these were overcome to achieve compliance. Performance and sustainability including the use of renewables, Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology (BREEAM), Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM), low air leakage, good design and lifecycle. Site and project management - safe management of the site and active waste management strategies. Innovation and problem-solving - use of innovative products and new ideas, technologies, creative designs and solutions. Introducing Baubewilligung kreislauffähig by Smart Regio Thunersee, one of the funded projects in Cohort 5! 🌟 🔍 “ A building permit process for a circular construction method must follow a different logic than today. We need to design the approval process in such a way that the inspection authority has sufficient flexibility to deal with the legalities of the reuse of materials and components. Together with the City of Thun and the legal department, we are developing a publicly accessible "Merkblatt-Baubewilligung kreislauffähig". All private and professional developers, investors, and approval authorities will benefit from our findings and the fact sheet. Simplifying the building permit process for Reuse projects reduces the process risks that building owners and project developers are currently confronted with. We want to create a basis for a new, circular approval process.” 🚀  “During the CBI Booster, in collaboration with the City of Thun and the legal department, we are developing a publicly accessible "Merkblatt-Baubewilligung kreislauffähig". With spring finally making an appearance, site visits are requiring considerably less wet weather gear.   Our Portfolio management team undertake regular site visits to see developments under construction. Development Monitor, Peter Messenger, recently visited Claydene Farm – a conversion of redundant agricultural buildings and a farmhouse into ten highly sustainable homes – to see how the Carbonlite Challenge pilot scheme was taking shape.   Pete commented "These houses, being built by QNEWHOMES, are expected to meet the exacting environmental standard set out in the RIBA Climate Challenge and it was fantastic to see the progress that has been made as the project passes the halfway mark of its construction timeline."   Site visits provide invaluable insights into schemes during the construction phase and allow us to measure progress against the original vision for projects – they are an essential part of our process in working with clients throughout the loan cycle.   #developmentfinance #property #smedevelopment #sitevisits
