📢 We at Biology MDPI are aware of the importance of early career researchers in #academia. Thus we dedicate the Special Issue "Young Researchers in Neuroscience" to up-and-coming scholars in the field, as an opportunity to showcase their work in #science. Our Editorial Board Member, Prof. Dr. Yansheng Du from Indiana University, will be acting as Academic Editor for this Issue. 🧠 Participants will also have the opportunity to be nominated for next years 🏆 Young Investigator Award 🏆 More information can be found at the link below 👇👇👇 https://lnkd.in/gPMZQTXm #openaccess #CallForPapers #neuroscience #BrainScience

Excited to see the European Journal of Neuroscience addressing data sharing in animal research ethics! For me, the integration of the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) with the 3Rs of animal research (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) offers significant benefits for both scientific progress and animal welfare. Implementing the FAIR principles are a huge step in realizing the 3R principles: #Reduction: • FAIR principles enhance data reusability, allowing researchers to extract more information from existing datasets and potentially reducing the number of animals needed for new studies. • Improved data sharing and interoperability can help avoid redundant experiments, thereby reducing overall animal use. #Refinement: • FAIR data practices can lead to more efficient experimental design and improved protocols, minimizing animal suffering and enhancing welfare. • Sharing of refined methods and best practices becomes easier when data is findable and accessible, promoting the adoption of more humane techniques across the research community. #Replacement: • FAIR data sharing enables researchers to access existing data, potentially replacing the need for new animal experiments • Improved findability and accessibility of alternative methods and non-animal models can promote their use, supporting replacement efforts. • FAIR data enables more sophisticated modeling, potentially leading to Replacement of some animal studies Implementing FAIR principles and making animal research data available should be mandatory, upholding the 3Rs while boosting research transparency and reproducibility.

Fascinating #Research on how the hippocampus plays a role in retrieving and organizing flexible movement sequences from memory. We keep learning so much about #neuroscience advancing the cumulative body of scientific knowledge that can facilitate better interventions. This time learning about this research ultimately can help in accelerating skills acquisition in a reduced time frame, a true concern for L&D professionals who are constantly put under pressure to quickly up-skill teams to respond to the urgencies of the marketplace. How do you overcome doubt? Doubt comes from not knowing. Not knowing can prevent you from doing things that might be beneficial. It can also be a breeding ground for mistakes. I asked behavioral scientist Jon Levy how he overcomes the paralysis of doubt and keeps moving forward. #creativecareers #overcomingdoubt #behavioralscience #neuroscience #businessstrategies #personalgrowth Jon Levy

📚“The Computer and the Brain“ 📚by John von Neumann I highly recommend this book to neuroscientists and anyone fascinated by the convergence of technology and biology. It’s a timeless piece that encourages us to think beyond traditional boundaries. First published in 1958, and considering the limited knowledge of neuroscience at the time, von Neumann’s comparisons are surprisingly accurate. This insightful work explores the analogies and intersections between these two seemingly disparate fields, providing a unique perspective. For instance, it explains how our brains can process information with similar or even better accuracy than computers in certain tasks—though not as quickly, as machines are obviously more efficient. #BookRecommendation #Neuroscience #TechnologyAndBiology #JohnVonNeumann #ComputersAndBrains #Neuroscientists #Interdisciplinary #InnovativeThinking #BrainScience #ComputationalNeuroscience
