Throughout evolution, our bodies developed responses to crises, known as the "Survival Switch," to enhance survival by increasing hunger, thirst, and the urge to find food. This response also leads to weight gain, fat storage, higher blood pressure, insulin resistance, and inflammation. Fructose, unlike other nutrients, activates this switch, reducing energy in cells and affecting their ability to use fat for energy. It involves complex changes like increased uric acid, stress on cell mitochondria, and changes in cell metabolism. Nowadays, this response is overly active due to genetic factors and diets high in fructose, contributing to many health issues such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, liver disease, certain cancers, and brain-related disorders. This overreaction to fructose, or the "Fructose Survival Hypothesis," suggests that much of modern disease could stem from this process. To improve health and potentially reverse these effects, reducing fructose intake, blocking its harmful metabolic effects, and supporting mitochondrial health are recommended strategies. — Johnson RJ, Lanaspa MA, Sanchez-Lozada LG, Tolan D, Nakagawa T, Ishimoto T, Andres-Hernando A, Rodriguez-Iturbe B, Stenvinkel P. What is the relationship between thyroid and weight? It has been appreciated for a very long time that there is a complex relationship between thyroid disease, body weight and metabolism. Thyroid hormone regulates metabolism in both animals and humans. Metabolism is determined by measuring the amount of oxygen used by the body over a specific amount of time. If the measurement is made at rest, it is known as the basal metabolic rate (BMR). In fact, measurement of the BMR was one of the earliest tests used to assess a patient’s thyroid status. Patients whose thyroid glands were not working were found to have low BMRs, and those with over-active thyroid glands had high BMRs. Later studies linked these observations with measurements of thyroid hormone levels and showed that low thyroid hormone levels were associated with low BMRs and high thyroid hormone levels were associated with high BMRs.

🔑The Key to Optimal Thyroid Health☄️ Your thyroid gland plays a crucial role in regulating your body's metabolism, growth, and development.✅ TT3, or Total Triiodothyronine, is a sensitive indicator of your thyroid's performance. Unlike other thyroid markers, the serum concentration of TT3 directly reflects the gland's ability to produce and release this important hormone. This makes TT3 an invaluable tool for clinicians in diagnosing and monitoring a range of thyroid-related conditions.✍️ 🔍From early-stage hyperthyroidism to recurrent hyperthyroidism and pseudo thyrotoxicosis, TT3 levels provide crucial insights that can inform timely and effective treatment. Don't let thyroid imbalances go unchecked. Unlock the power of TT3 testing and take the first step towards a healthier, more vibrant you.🤝 🔗https://lnkd.in/gZGu59rJ #thyroid #TT3 #TSH #thyroidmarker #serum #metabolism #healthcare #ivd #poct #treatment

🧐What can a Kraft Test tell you about your health? It’s a metabolism stress test like an ECG on a treadmill. 🩸When we measure Insulin and its response to Glucose we get the whole story not just a part. 🚀You are then empowered to make the changes to your diet that are causing insulin to be high. Diet is both the cause and cure and the one lever you can really affect. 🤔What do some of the experts say? “We focus on glucose, but insulin is the real problem. And it’s driving the arterial disease, it’s driving the dementia and the cancers.” Professor Tim Noakes “High insulin levels, through cellular dysfunction, ultimately leads to chronic disease, morbidity, and early death. Insulin resistance is the central problem in metabolic syndrome.” Dr. Robert Lustig “Most people with insulin resistance will ultimately die from heart disease or other cardiovascular complications; others will develop Alzheimer’s disease, breast or prostate cancers, or any number of other lethal diseases.” Dr. Ben Bikman “Kraft insulin assay This is the most accurate insulin resistance test available to consumers. It measures your glucose and your insulin levels at several timepoints before and after drinking a 75 gram dose of glucose to see how your metabolism handles the glucose load.” Dr Georgia Ede

In our practices, we often encounter the intertwined challenges of insulin resistance (IR) and hypothyroidism. The synergy between these two dynamics can profoundly impact metabolic health, but have you considered the role of receptor resistance in connecting them? In insulin resistance, cells become overwhelmed by glucose, impairing their responsiveness to insulin signals. Additionally, the cell membrane, subjected to excess glucose, undergoes inflammation and damage, hindering the effects of all hormones. But here's where it gets fascinating: improving insulin sensitivity, and thus glucose management, can surprisingly affect thyroid hormone levels. Research shows that medications like metformin, which enhance insulin resistance, may paradoxically lower T3 hormone levels. This underscores the concept of polyhormonal resistance in individuals with insulin resistance, extending to thyroid hormone sensitivity. Conversely, elevated levels of Free T3 (fT3) can predict future insulin resistance, suggesting a reciprocal relationship between thyroid function and glucose metabolism. These findings emphasize the importance of addressing insulin resistance dynamics if thyroid hormone levels approach upper reference limits. So, what's the takeaway? Don't overlook thyroid hormone resistance, and be prepared for potential shifts in T3 levels after improving insulin sensitivity. Furthermore, consider insulin resistance dynamics if fT3 trends towards the upper limits, particularly in the presence of hypothyroid symptoms. #InsulinResistance #ThyroidDynamics #MetabolicHealth #HealthcareInsights #MedicalResearch #Endocrinology Reference: https://lnkd.in/gKbXrBhY https://lnkd.in/gtt4-BvM https://lnkd.in/g9fP9PDX
