When is a lifetime not a lifetime? When it being touted as a easy way to gloss over instrument redundancy and replacement. I have seen this a few times. Some instrument vendors will not support your instrument after a few years. At Shimadzu, we will support your instrument for 7 years after we stop manufacturing the instrument and often much longer (when we still have parts and engineers capable of maintaining the system). We also offer systems capable of being upgraded in the field, expanding the system capabilities as required by the user. This is the most sustainable approach to growing requirements for sensitivity and sustainability. At Shimadzu UK Limited we will not use misleading terms like this when describing parts and consumables for an instrument. When we say we offer "lifetime" support by phone and email, we mean that when you buy a system from us, we will help you for as long as you use the system (as long as we are able to help you). If you see "lifetime" mentioned when buying an instrument, think twice and ask, what does "lifetime" really mean? #Shimadzu #MALDI #LCMS #LCMSMS #QTOF #TQ #laboritory #Sustainability #upgrade #sensitivity

Project report and presentation available — iNEMI’s recently completed Unified Equipment Interaction Methodology Project was a collaboration between electronics manufacturers and equipment suppliers to validate the feasibility and ease of implementation of draft SEMI standard 6926: Specification for Equipment Operator Access Management and Monitoring. The team provided feedback on the standard, including proof-of-concept work that focused primarily on how users interact with equipment on the factory floor. Their recommendations focused on those aspects of the standard that will help ensure secure access to equipment, assist manufacturers in understanding gaps in procedures, identify any need to reinforce training, and enable equipment suppliers to monitor for commonly used features on their interfaces, as well as features that are minimally used. One of the things I love, (and hate) about this industry is that you can never predict what is going to happen from day to day. For instance, if you would have told me earlier that I would be working with a Sr. Power Supply Engineer and a Sr. Staff MMIC Engineer all in one day, I would have told you that you were crazy, yet here we are. As my career has progressed, the roles I work on have become more niche, the more niche they are, the more excited I get when I am able to find the gems. #engineeringrecruiter #manufacturingrecruiter #powersupplyengineer #mmicengineer
