I’m so proud to share some incredible developers and innovators from Malaysia featured at the Microsoft Build: AI Day in Kuala Lumpur as they demonstrate the impact of Microsoft technology. We showcased five organizations who are changing the world, one application at a time, with #AzureOpenAI Service and #Copilot like: Prudential plc, with their AI-powered contact center platform, built on Azure OpenAI that was rolled out to their agents in Malaysia and beyond! Healthcare superapp, Doctor2U- Your Health App, that uses GitHub Copilot for more efficient and effective coding. A Malaysia-born startup, Pandai built PBot, a personalized study bot built using Azure OpenAI, which monitors students' progress and provides academic support. Agroz is using generative AI to aid farmers in growing a wide variety of crops in the Agroz Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Vertical Farms. As well as Dr. Hasyiya Karimah Adli (Founding Dean of Faculty of Data Science & Computing in Universiti Kelantan Malaysia) who shared her career pivot journey and how Code; Without Barriers empowers her. Karnataka launches AI-powered digital assistant for teachers - Karnataka has launched Shiksha Co-pilot, an AI-powered digital assistant for teachers, and I think this could be a game-changer for education. Imagine teachers being able to create personalized lesson plans, activities, and assessments without spending hours planning! This tool helps them do exactly that—efficiently and with a personal touch that fits their students’ needs. What really stands out to me is how Shiksha Co-pilot is tailored for our local curriculum, context, and languages. It’s not just another generic tech tool but something that truly understands the local educational ecosystem. As someone who’s passionate about education and technology, I think this is such a smart move. The fact that it even comes with a chat-bot for teachers to keep learning and generating content on the go, how cool is that? The project will start with 1,000 teachers across the state, but eventually it’s going to spread wider. I’m genuinely excited about how much this can improve the quality of education in government schools and make learning more engaging for students. We’re living in a time where AI can assist teachers to focus more on creativity and connection instead of just planning. I think that’s a win-win for both teachers and students. This makes me think—how else can we leverage AI to make education more effective and accessible? 🌟 My Learning Journey in Data and AI with Microsoft and LinkedIn 🌟 Back in April, I applied to start a learning journey 3MTT Nigeria. However, life got in the way, and I couldn't dive into the foundational courses until recently. Shout out to Kehinde Ajadi for always checking in and giving me that push I needed to get back on track 🙌🏾 I finally did it! Just finished up a bunch of courses in Generative AI and Data Analysis, and let me tell you – it was worth every minute! Thanks to Microsoft and LinkedIn Learning for all the amazing resources. 📚 Courses I Completed: ✨Career Essentials in Generative AI ✨Generative AI Productivity Skills ✨Professional Soft Skills ✨Career Essentials in Data Analysis ✨English for IT 1 & 2 (Yes, even English was a module... English sef can be …..😂) 💡 What I Actually Learned: ✅Listening & Communication: One of my favorite parts was on effective communication and listening. Learning about empathetic listening – like actually paying attention and understanding before responding – was such a game-changer for me. It’s something I’m already making use of in my everyday conversations! ✅Prompt Engineering: This one was eye-opening! I learned how to tweak prompts to get the best responses from AI – super handy and honestly fun to play around with. ✅AI Ethics: Who knew AI had so many ethical considerations? Learning about the “dos and don’ts” in AI was deep but really important. It reminded me of how powerful and careful we need to be with these tools. ✅English for IT: Okay, I’m not even gonna lie, this part was HARD 😂. They covered so much grammar and communication stuff that had me questioning if I even knew English at all. But it was also low-key amazing – definitely helped polish up some skills I didn’t realize needed polishing. It’s been a challenging journey but a great eye opener. It was worth every bit of time I invested A big thank you to Microsoft and LinkedIn Learning for providing these resources, and to 3MTT Nigeria for encouraging us to share our learning stories. According to TechCrunch, global business consulting giant Accenture will acquire the learning platform Udacity. The purchase price was not disclosed, but there were rumors of acquisition circulating in 2023 at a price of $80 million — a significant reduction from its hay-day valuation of upwards of $1 billion in 2015. In addition, Accenture has also announced that they will invest $1 billion in a home-grown learning platform called “LearnVantage.” This acquisition still needs to be approved by regulators, but it is important in that it demonstrates the value recognized by some of the world’s largest service provider organizations and the investments that they are willing to make as technology relentlessly drives forward. They understand that this is a growth area for services that their enterprise clients want and need. And we could not agree more. In fact ... that's what we do. Excited to share my experience from the first day of the Otic Foundation's AI for Uganda program! 🚀 Today was eye-opening, reinforcing that tech is an ever-evolving field. Otic is equipping us with the mindset, skillset (PowerBI, Python), and toolset (Anaconda, Google Colab) needed to thrive in this rapidly changing landscape. Key takeaways: • Data visualization is crucial for informed decision-making • Every business should have a data person or team • Integrating your unique gifts into your learning journey is vital • Mastering one programming language to its fullest can position you as a technologist • Self-motivation is key - just keep doing your thing! We also explored different roles: Innovator, Motivator, and Explorer. Where do you see yourself? An interesting perspective on Uganda's tech landscape emerged. While some believe we're behind, I see immense potential. It's time to challenge stereotypes and embrace change. *Let's focus on authentic interest rather than labeling disinterest as laziness.* The discussion on automated bots for flight bookings was fascinating. It highlighted the need for automation in our fast-paced world. Grateful to learn from industry experts like Paul Nesta (CEO, Otic Foundation), Mr. Andrew, and Isaac Mwesigwa. From developing our national K-12 AI curriculum to launching Climate-Smart Indonesia with MBZUAI, we're building an AI ecosystem that serves all Indonesians. The journey has reinforced a crucial insight: sustainable AI development requires both top-down policy frameworks and ground-up capacity building. Many of you may know that Data Science Rex Pte Ltd is partnering with Nanyang Polytechnic, to launch a co-designed training program to train up #AIEngineers and #Datascientist, the <AI Practitioner Preparation Course> For this post, I will like to share the rationale for launching such a course despite the numerous SIMILAR (NOT same) courses out there! Because those courses cannot meet the demand of hiring managers in my opinion. A good course have three elements! 1) Curated relevant skills and content 2) Experienced Practitioners As Trainers to share best-practices and learnings from experience 3) Experienced trainers who has the patience to teach and explain challenging concepts in #datascience & #artificialintelligence. Thus the program is designed with these three in mind. Pt 1: Through my community, I have discuss with hiring managers and these are the technical skills they need. Pt 2: Trainers are Tan Bee Hoon, Kuo Ting, Cliff Chew and myself! Our practicing and training experience are shown on LinkedIn for any interested participants to see. Interested?
