The importance of equipping oneself - as a security practitioner, with training that provides exposure to the fundamentals of security is paramount - for several reasons... 1. Foundation for Effective Decision-Making Fundamental security training provides a solid foundation of knowledge and principles that are essential for making effective security decisions. Understanding the basics of security concepts such as access control, surveillance techniques, risk assessment, and security protocols allows professionals to assess situations, identify vulnerabilities, and implement appropriate security measures. 2. Adaptability to Diverse Security Challenges The security landscape is constantly evolving, with new threats and challenges emerging regularly. A strong understanding of fundamental security concepts enables professionals to adapt to these changes and apply their knowledge to a wide range of security scenarios. Whether it's a physical breach, cyber-attack, natural disaster, or other security incident, professionals with a solid foundation can respond more effectively. 3. Risk Management Fundamental security training emphasizes the importance of risk management. Professionals learn how to assess and prioritize risks, develop mitigation strategies, and allocate resources efficiently. This knowledge is essential for protecting assets, personnel, and information effectively while optimizing security investments. 4. Enhanced Problem-Solving Skills Fundamental security training often includes scenario-based learning that challenges professionals to think critically and develop effective solutions to security challenges. This helps to hone problem-solving skills, which are invaluable in the dynamic and often unpredictable field of security. 5. Professional Credibility Employers, clients, and colleagues expect security professionals to have a solid understanding of the foundational principles of security. Completing relevant training programs and certifications not only demonstrates a commitment to the field but also enhances professional credibility. It provides assurance to stakeholders that the professional has the knowledge and skills necessary to protect people, assets, and information. 6. Prevention of Costly Security Incidents Ultimately, fundamental security training helps prevent costly security breaches, incidents, and losses. By understanding security best practices, professionals can proactively identify and address vulnerabilities, reducing the likelihood of security incidents that could result in financial, reputational, or legal consequences. #securitytraining #security #securityprofessional #malaysiasecurity

I've taken every possible personality test. I'm in a Slack channel right now talking about the Working Genius test I just took (thank you Dave Gray). As a Psychology major, I find them interesting AND I'm fascinated by how they change as my life changes. It's never a massive shift but enough to make a difference. We've had clients pass on strong candidates because of test results. We've had clients require a test submission with an application. I've got opinions on using personality tests in hiring but I'm not educated enough to responsibly discuss it. Enter Tim Meurer! Join me and Tim Meurer on Tuesday, July 23rd where we'll discuss the appropriate use of personality tests. He's been guiding businesses for years as an advisor and consultant on all things people. It's time I educate myself! I hope you'll enjoy learning this, too. Also, I'm a : -5 -WD -Low D, High I, Average S, Low C. -ISFP -Can't remember my Clifton StrengthFinder!!
